Beth could have canned Fran last year and hired DeVries. Instead . . . .

West Virginia held ISU to 1-17 from three. That's 5.9%. Meanwhile, Iowa lets teams shoot 67% and hit 21 threes in ONE game . . . game after game. WV also had 14 steals. They call that "defense," I think.

The attendance in Morgantown was 14,444--or about what Iowa's men draw in 3 or 4 games.

I have no idea if there's any way DeVries could be brought to Iowa City next year, but Beth should be making every effort to make it happen, even if it would be a year late . . .

Not to defend Fran but Iowa led nearly wire to wire when the clowns were in Iowa City… winning on the road is challenging
They lost that game because they got absolutely smoked on the boards, just like they have virtually every game vs quality opponents. It's boys vs men when the Iowa Hawkeyes come to town. Can't defend. Can't rebound when they do.

335th in the country in rebound margin.

I'm not sure what makes anyone think that Devries would have been interested in taking the Iowa job. He is highly marketable and can be quite selective. Going to a program that hasn't experienced a high level of success and that has a poor fanbase that doesn't show up to games doesn't seem like a good move.
Pure delusion.

There are people here who think Chris Collins would leave Northwestern to coach here. Why? They can't say other than ...it's Iowa. lol

You know damn well there are idiots out there who truly believe we could hire Bruce Pearl right now if we really wanted to.

Pretty much every fan base over rates the attractiveness of their program. Look at Indiana fans, e.g., if you need to see some extreme delusion. But jeezus....people....

It's the same thing when Fran was hired. 90% of the fan base was surprised that we "settled" for some no name dude from some no name Catholic school out east. lol

This ain't Kentucky. Hell, this ain't even Marquette or Creighton. Jay Wright ain't walking through that door.

Is the current administration clever enough to find Iowa's version of Bo Ryan? I hope so but I'm not wagering large sums on it.

Reading how his son played 8-9 games. Been out indefinitely with an upper body injury. Had shoulder surgery after last year. I bet if he doesn’t play the rest of the year he gets medical hardship waiver and able to get another year (like jbo did).

The small ball lineup hasn't worked.

You are pulling some things out of the air. The overall tone on the board after Lickliter was replaced was hopefull and very glad to see a coach that was the opposite of slowball. You say 90% thought we settled and that is ridiculously overstated. Yes you can find some people that are ingorant of realities in the college coaching job market that will overstate Iowa's ability to attract experienced/successful P5 coaches. The proposed shared revenue numbers I saw published show Iowa well into the Upper 1/2 of B1G. In the end money talks and you need NIL to get players. Iowa will be attractive destination for a mid major coach to take a $3-$4 million/yr payday which is a huge bump up from Mid major pay. Add in the longevity/reputation for patience in building a prrogram---the money Fran made is life changing wealth from what he was making at Sienna.

Anyway why can't you debate on an intellectual level instead of resorting to mocking posters? It is often a tactic of someone unsure of their own intelligence. You post some good stuff. Don't be an ass 100 percent of the time.

Really don't know what I said that makes me an ass. Didn't pull anything out of the air. We have some delusional fans. That's just a fact. The fact that you seem to understand that when the time comes, we're going to be selecting from the ranks of unproven up and comers shows you're not one of them. Congrats.
