A first year freshman QB, not having great passing day but with a minute or so to go, not on 3rd down but on 1st down, OU throws the ball with all 11 houston defenders in the box. REcevier was a TEnd who faked a block and went straight up the field for a 11 catch or so.

Sometimes when you are an Iowa with a very good defense there is less risk to throw the ball when you are trying to eat up the clock and win the game.

My thoughts exactly..heck, don't even give ISU a chance to get ball back. 3rd and 7, about 90 seconds left, go for the first down via pass...ISU not expecting it all, heck, wouldn't even been mad if short or incomplete, at least we were attacking.

Well, when you coach fear into your QBs and your QBs play scared and you call a scared offense, that's what happens.........

We can beg for plays like what you saw with the OU QB, but the coaches are gonna do what they know how to do.

We're not Oklahoma. I would have been super upset if the ball was put in the air on our last possession with the lead.

Zero confidence in Cade at that point, and frankly his performance didn't warrant any.
Yes, it is obvious that the coaches don’t have much confidence in Cade’s passing when we ran 3 times for a total of 2 yards in the last two minutes before punting. We needed a first down there to put them away.

We got one first down on that possession right before the end. I think by running the ball. The thing is to do really hard play action, the OLine blocks like a run, but slip out one TEnd from one side and maybe the fullback to the other side.

ISU would have been attacking the box with about all their players because they new they had to stop us there.

If you get a first down on that throw you can take a knee 4 times.

I like Hayden Large as a receiver.

And how did not throwing a pass that possession work out for the Hawks? You are aware they lost…right?

I see what you are saying, but handing off to Kaleb up the gut with 6 or 7 guys waiting for him gave us about a 1% chance. At least trying to throw it had about a 5% chance (with Cade)..Illinois tried to throw it on a third down late in the 4th quarter with a lead, got sacked - but it was refreshing to see another BT team go for the killshot….😎

Campbell was laughing on the sideline before our last drive ended. They knew we would come out and run up the gut to burn clock and they would get one more shot. They proceeded to run a nice out route on first down then a bench route concept the next play for a big gain to about ice the game. Give them credit for the drive but Iowa played right into what they knew they would do. Wish we would’ve called something to throw them off.

A play action there would have had a chance. At least a jump ball to Lachey.

Were his horse teeth showing?

The Chiefs do this kind of thing all the time. Yes, they have a competent QB, but Iowa probably does too, but KF won't let Sullivan play.

Scratch where it itches ain't just a saying. It's winning football. They stack the box, you throw the damn ball, especially when you need ONE first down to nail down a freakin' win!

Send KF packin'. C'mon, Beth. You can do it.
