Is it too much to ask for a power five conference team to make the NCAA tournament once every 100 years?!?!? I hope they continue their run but the coverage has been brutal....like listening to John Thompson or Walton call the game...brutal.

They better take advantage of the opportunity while they have it. That downtrodden program finally found a crack.
A ton of sports journalists went to Northwestern. And Syracuse for that matter, hence the uproar when they didn't get in.
Thats it in a nutshell. Most of the sports columnists went to Nwestern or Syracuse. Main reason they get so much love. Wait until Monday, between Greenburg in the morning and Wilbon in the afternoon the Kitty fur licking will be off the chart!

Northwestern is NOT Chicago's Big Ten team, no matter how many billboards they put up. As Torbee rightly points out, the Cubs are an everyman national franchise while NW barely registers in Evanston. No comparison whatsoever. But I do hope the fierce Wildcats oust #1 seed Gonzaga today just to mess with all those national talking heads who love nothing as much as berating the Big Ten.
