I didnt watch much of this game but I noticed late and then on some early game replays PSU line up with double tight ends for their 7 on the LOS, the QB, and then 3 across at the fullback level for full house T formation. It seemed to work pretty good for them in short yardage situations. The TEnds kept some players from crashing down hard on the runner, the QB could hand off to whoever but usually it was the middle back, who then had a lead blocker, and the other runner could close of back side pursuit and later push the ball carrier. It also reminded me of Fry's 3 back formation back in the day.
