I knew what was going to happen. I was sleeping and figured, "screw it, I'm sleeping some more to be up for the Super Bowl. Iowa's going to lose to IU because Fran is going to play JBo and Connor way too many minutes. He'll play JT some minutes, but if he screws up even once he's on the bench, Fran won't go to Ulis no matter what, and he will run with JBo no matter how bad he is offensively and defensively."
So, I read the box score. JBo 33 minutes, Connor 24, Toussaint 4, and Ulis 6.
Fran is so ****ing predictable. Murray has 16 minutes? What are you thinking, Fran?
Apparently, CJ is more important to this team than Garza is because lowa sucked without him when he got hurt last year and it's happened again this year. I'm not worried about losing Garza next year now; I am worried that CJ may never be healthy for an entire season; its been a "lower leg injury" both years.
I probably wouldn't have to worry about CJ quite so much if Fran realized that the guards on his bench are better than the JBo and Connor in terms of all-around game. And if you say Connor's a forward, I say so is Murray so why isn't he getting 30 minutes a game?
I don't know. This team looks like an 8, 9, or 10 seed. It would be poetic if Iowa got an 8 seed and had to play Baylor in the 2nd round. Be like the 90s all over again. I swear, Iowa was always a 7 or 8 seed under Dr Tom in the 90s. Now, the "best team ever" is going to be lucky to be 1999-2000 Iowa (Kent McCausland, Sweet Sixteen).
Who does Iowa beat from here on out? Penn State, sure. Wisconsin? Slow guards so maybe a split. Rutgers at home? Maybe. Michigan? ha! Illini at home? Unlikely. Ohio State on the road? Doubtful. MSU on road? I don't know. It looks like a struggle to stay at .500 by years end.
What a waste.
