Someone mentioned only eating meat, eggs, fruit and veggies. As I was making my daily salad I added croutons and cottage cheese. Should these be avoided? I have been reading a lot about cortisol lately and the damaging effects it has on the male body as we age. Any suggestions except eat shite and die mf would be appreciated. also what beverages do you drink?

I really don't know if I should take this post seriously or not?? But I'll take a chance and reply. lol
I would not add cottage cheese or croutons to my salad.
For beverages I drink a lot of water, hot oolong tea, herbal tea and my favorite Canarino
It's actually pretty simple to eat healthy, just have to make sure you plan ahead and buy real food.
I eat between 2,500-2,800 calories daily.
I intermittent fast daily, do a 40 hour fast once a week and a 96-hour (4 day) water only fast once a quarter.
I also cold plunge every morning and workout 6 days a week.

Congrats to you on your discipline.
I do not do it quite to that extent, but I usually don't eat until noon.
I drink almost exclusively water and by that I mean I may drink a non water beverage 1 time a month.
I try to do a 1 day fast once every 2 weeks.
I am a vegetarian, but I do like candy and chocolate, although I eat it sparingly.
I think it is worse to eat healthy and worry about what you eat than to eat fairly healthy and not worry about it. Negative thoughts can be just as harmful as poor diet. IMHO

I’m in decent shape, but I can tell you’re in better shape than me. That’s freaking incredible discipline.

IMO, nothing wrong with cottage cheese, especially the lowfat or fat free. I eat plenty. Healthy protein and decent nutrients. But minimal breads/pasta/croutons/potatoes/rice for me. I eat lots of about every vegetable that exists, though not a vegetarian. Prefer my meats to be chicken, fish, and wild game, mostly unbreaded and seared/sauteed in olive oil or baked. Use seasonings to get flavor, not butter and fats. But certainly I mix in a few burgers or steaks. Try and limit my fruits, with emphasis on (blue, rasp, straw)berries, maybe an apple or banana here and there. Nuts too, almonds or cashews. Always liked the G-BOMBS guide. Greens, beans, onions, mushrooms, berries, and seeds/nuts. Drinks...mostly low sodium spicy V8 and unsweetened iced tea for me. Avoid boxed/processed food. I also agree about not overly stressing about being strict or a perfect eater. Find healthier foods that still keep eating enjoyable and fun, splurge once and awhile. Exercise/active lifestyle, relaxing with fun hobbies or friends/family, and reducing life stress are certainly important too. No alcohol for me, for multiple reasons. My 2 cents, now back to my Oreo Blizzard. 🙂

Weekends I drink coffee until it's time to switch to beer (around noon) and during the week I drink coffee until it's time to switch to water (around noon) until it's time to switch to beer (around 4:30). Don't put cottage cheese on salad. That's gross, just eat it out of the tub. Croutons are disgusting. It's just rock hard bread and hurts my teeth. Good luck with whatever you're trying to do.

I could never cut out cottage cheese. It's a staple protien for me.

There are no "beverages" that are healthy IMO. Drink more water. And when you think its enough drink a lot more. I don't even drink juice. I drink green tea in the morning.

What exactly are you trying to do?

If I don’t kill it, I don’t eat it.

Lots of natural capsaicin, garlic, leafy greens, root vegetables, blueberries, and lemons.

No processed cooking oils.

Apple cider vinegar.

A gallon of water a day.
Think you forgot your life fluid!

I try to do Apple Cider Vinegar once a week (usually ends up being once every 2 weeks) I am not sure what it is good for, so I am not very motivated to do it. I just keep hearing people tell me it is good for me. What is it good for or what does it do for you?
The good news is that I am going upstairs to drink an ounce of it right now. Thanks for the reminder.

Boosts metabolism, keeps cholesterol in check, kills bacteria, and has antioxidants that make the immune system strong like bull. Just has a ton of overall health benefits. It’s actually been shown to prevent or greatly manage diabetes as well.

I drink a smoothie every morning with turnip greens, sweet potato/yams, garlic, ginger, blueberries, lemon, macha powder(tea leaves), cocoa powder, raw goat milk, and 1/4 cup of ACV.

My Uncle and I had fresh walleye, caught today, fried in Crisco.
I’m having bluegill tonight fried as well….. I prescribe to the see food diet myself

I cook almost exclusively with cast iron and first thing I do is warm it up and put a dollop of bacon grease in it….. I drink whole milk….. eat real butter lots of farm fresh eggs yolks and all …. I do avoid processed foods

At my yearly physical I told my doctor I’d been eating a lot of stir fry with veggies and chicken breast….. he smiled and asked what kind of oil I use and I said I start out frying the chicken in bacon grease and his clip board went flying

We have a deal he wants to keep me alive til 80 and then I can do what I want….. he’s a fun hater….. I do what I want anyway…… I’m old and fat and loving life 😎

probably not what the op was looking for

What do you mean by intermittent fast daily?
Im 46 and I’ve been intermittent fasting for a couple years (gained some ‘rona weight). I only eat two meals a day (breakfast at 1000a and nothing after 600p). I’ve been eating an All-Organic diet for about 6 years and work out about 5 times a week. I lost 18 pounds with IF. It takes a little getting used to as my family eats breakfast early while I sip coffee with my tummy rumbling. Your body adapts and it just becomes routine. My dad is 73 ( not on any prescription meds) and he turned me onto it after he lost 30lbs doing it.

Do your own research and do what works for you. Good luck bud.

he didn’t… he asked me what bacon grease does in the fridge and compared that to my veins….. but my fridge is colder than 99 degrees 😎

My youngest daughter is actually a health and nutrition coach who specializes in pre and postnatal exercise and nutrition….. no pictures don’t ask….. she would likely recommend avocado oil

Avocado oil is the only seed oil that doesn’t require the FDA inspection. 90% of avocado oil isn’t even made from avocado. Avoid all seed oils at all costs. The healthiest cooking oil is coconut, IMO.

I cook almost exclusively with rendered fats and tallow.

Our neighbor does. He has a herd of somewhere between 150-200 goats. DO NOT sleep on goat meat either. It’s fantastic.

We also let an Amish family we’ve become close with pick our apples, pears, and grapes in exchange for all the brown eggs we can eat. Yolks are dark orange. So good!

I take my ACV straight from a shot glass. I feel more manly that way!!!

avocado oil is made from the pulp not the pit btw….. not sure it’s a “seed” oil and it’s full of omega 9 fatty acids supposedly very heart healthy….. way more than my bacon grease my daughter tells me
Fair enough. I would suggest you do the research for yourself and suggest to your daughter to dig a bit deeper into it. For some reason avocado oil finds a loophole in the FDA and most of them contain very little actual avocado. You really gotta search and read the fine print for the legit brands.
