Difference between NCAA tournament and NIT

i don't see how anyone could be confident 10-10 would be enough to get in, when it's most likely that 8 of those 10 wins would come against the bottom 5 teams in the league, & they will have beaten ONE !?! team above them in the standings.

Pretty sh#@% resume, if you ask me.

Every year I'm amazed by the teams that get in,.. we'll be dancing.

Guards.

Ours are some of the worst in the B1G.

That's your answer in a word.
If only it were that simple. Yes, the guards aren't great or anything close but having four 4 type bodies that are kind of soft and play out of position a lot along with having no true 5 other than a young kid who might get 4 mins once every few games is huge too. Front court and back court are both lacking, just a horribly constructed team that further highlights how bad Fran shit the bed in the portal and overall this past offseason

So three point shots are "vanity shots". JFC. Have you every taken the time to watch another bball game outside of Iowa games? In over 26 MPG, Jordan is averaging less than a TO per game, and you're talking about throwing away possessions. I don't think he's the best guard around, but some of you guys find every little hole in his game to find a reason to not like him, no matter how stupid it sounds.
Try to have just a little intellectual honesty. Otherwise what's the point?

Obviously you know I didn't say anything even remotely close to "three pointers are vanity shots."

His extreemly low percentage heat check shots are vanity shots. I know this because I watch a fvck ton of basketball and no one else consistently throws up off balanced, not squared up, 2 feet behind the line shots except Steff Curry.

I want Jordan to shoot every open 3 he gets, but not those ones where he's feverishly dribbling around a screen back and forth trying to find a way to sqeez one off just because he made one tthe previous possession. The ones the announcers start calling out 3 seconds before it goes up. You know exactly what I'm talking about.

And don't fvcking pretend like I was implying thats why Iowa lost because I specifically said the opposite.

He was the best fricking guard. All of our guards suck. All of them!!! Can we please stop acting like joe or Perkins or ulis or anyone else in the bench that plays guard is gonna make a damn bit of difference if they play more minutes than Bohannon. They all suck. Joe sucked tonight. Perkins was borderline drunk the first ten minutes.
100%. Fran has no "better" options because of his recruiting. Other than Jbo, defenses do not need to worry about Ulis, Perkins, or Joe T. or Connor taking perimeter shots. That's 4 guards who present no threat to opposing defenses. More Sandfort at this point--he has at least shown the ability to get hot in stretches and has a nice floor game.

To me this does not look like an NCAA Tournament team, but like most have said 10-10 probably gets us there. I actually think the @Mich game is where we find the equalizer for Thursday’s debacle.

Losing a game like this will be the difference between an NCAA bid or NIT. For the life of me I cannot figure out why Iowa cannot get it done in the games at home under Fran.
They do. Just not always. We remember the losses, but the big wins not so much (remember Iowa sweeping WI last year and beating Purdue in CHA?)

Furthermore, we may have a 4 that can guard a team's best big like Dickinson.....but we do NOT have the depth if teams go big like Michigan did and lean on their other big, who had a clear mismatch all game.
This X1000!!! The Hawks do fine when they are not facing a team with a clear advantage in the paint. When we have to throw multiple people at one guy....that is when things go bad. The big men we have played are VERY GOOD at passing out of the double and triple teams we are using against them. This was the reason we lost to Michigan, Purdue, Illinois....etc.

I thought letting the young Michigan big go off for 28 was just another in a long line of Iowa "Starmakers." The young man scored 9 points (his average) in the previous game and 3 points against Wisconsin Sunday. He's been in single digits far more times this season than double digits.
