But the fact that he's supporting Trump indicates the amount of weight you should put on his political judgement:

Former Bears coach Mike Ditka, who has repeatedly voiced his support for Donald Trump to the Chicago Sun-Times, blasted President Obama during a radio appearance Thursday.

“Obama is the worst president we’ve ever had,” Ditka told hosts Sid Rosenberg and Bernard McGuirk during an appearance on their morning show on WABC-AM in New York.

Ditka, who guided the 1985 Bears to a Super Bowl victory, questioned Obama’s skills as a leader.

“Barack Obama’s a fine man. I mean, he’s pleasant,” Ditka said. “He would be great to play golf with. He’s not a leader. This country needs leadership. It needs direction. It needs somebody that steps up front. We need somebody like Ronald Reagan.

“Every once in a while you’re going to get punched in the chops. But you keep going forward. That’s all there is to it,” he added. “You know it’s not always going to be a perfect situation, but to do what he does, there’s no leadership there. I think that becomes very disgusting to me.”

Ditka also took shots at Democratic-favorite Hillary Clinton. When the show’s hosts played a clip of Clinton declaring Republicans want to take America back to the “Jim Crow past,” a disgusted Ditka said that “filthy statement” could make you “throw up.”

“If I were to vote tomorrow,” Ditka said, “I’d probably vote for Trump.”

Ditka is the reason the Bears didn't win multiple Super Bowls. Buddy Ryan is the reason they won one.
Yes. Because Buddy Ryan did so well as a head coach. Obviously he was the key.

The truth is the 85 bears had a freakish level of talent on the defense. Todd lickliter would have looked great coaching them.

How many Super Bowls did they win after Ryan left? So much for that theory.

Also, sorry if I question the work of Presidential Scholar, Mike Ditka.

Side note: Da' Bears would have been undefeated that year had it not been for the mighty Miami Dolphins preserving their place as the ONLY team in modern NFL history to have an undefeated season. All hail the Miami Dolphins!

Don't take my word for it. Ask the '85 Bears. This sentiment is pretty unanimous.
My interpretation of the 30 for 30 show is that the players loved Ryan and tolerated Ditka. However, it was clear they had a good defense prior to '85 but did not have the offense to take them the distance. McMahon joining the team and the emergence of the offense is what put them over the hump. Although a large portion of their success was due to Ryan's ingenuity and respect he had from players, it wasn't the sole reason they won.

Good thing they did too, otherwise what else would Dolphin fans have to pride themselves on?

Why are people so incredibly stupid to think that the worst president in American history is either this president or the last one?

Read a freaking history book.

The worst means they don't agree with that person politics/political affiliation. Sad thing is the history books will probably show Obama will be one of the most productive presidents ever. Once again don't confuse dislike or personal beliefs with productivity.

Trying to figure out why I should care what Mike Ditka thinks about Presidential politics.....Nope, I've got nothing.

And yet, Obama and the Democrats complain that the GOP wouldn't let him get anything done.o_Oo_O

Well speaking for myself I don't think you can really effectively rate a president until many years into the future when you see some consequences to their actions.

That having been said I really don't think Bush or Obama will ever be the worst president in American history.

Read a freaking history book.
Clearly Iron Mike cannot remember Richard Nixon, Ulyses Grant, Millard Fillmore, Andrew Johnson, Warren Harding, James Buchanan, John Tyler, and Iowa's own Herbert Hoover. A nice man, but history does not judge him well. We have to admit that as Iowans, even though he wasn't responsible for the Great Depression, he dithered.
I generally include any president from 1840 to Lincoln as being ineffective because not one of them tried vigorously enough to avoid the Civil War.

Sometimes I think Republicans, like Da Coach, have had their eyes covered and ears plugged for seven years.

Their mantra is something like this: If you don't acknowledge progress, it didn't really happen!

While I agree with others that Ditka is hardly the voice of wisdom or reason when it comes to judging presidential performance, I do think Obama has horrible leadership qualities.

Well the last one ain't that far from the bottom. Definitely fourth quartile. Only Nixon comes close as a modern equivalent to the disaster that was W.

Nixon ended the war.

Nixon opened up relations with China.

Nixon created the EPA.

Nixon ended the draft.

Nixon signed Title IX into law.

The dude was a democrat in disguise.

Carter was just ineffective. He was like Mr. Rogers in the White House.

George W. Bush caused a ton of damage to our country and our image abroad. Invading Iraq was a disaster that we will be dealing with for decades.

I think George W. Bush was the worst President going back 100 years because of the damage he did.

Oh, BS.

The new Obama administration (with Hillary as Chief Diplomat) made that stupid case about our "image abroad." Wanted to "reset" relations with Russia and went on an apology tour in the Middle East.

Shit is a WHOLE lot worse now on both fronts than it was 8 years ago.

Just don't go there, m'kay?

Well, you're part of the 1% that thinks George W. Bush was a good President and invading Iraq was a wise decision; so debating you is completely pointless.

Not OK, we will go there. You don't have a leg to stand on. By nearly every measure we are miles better than we were 8 years ago.
