Do we have any chance of actually winning on Thursday?

Iowa has no business being in the NCAA tournament and Fran sure as hell deserves 0 credit for engineering anything remotely resembling a successful season. 2 wins against NCAA teams and the collapse all of us not delusional predicted. Really thrilled Fran ran Williams off to actually have a downgrade at PG and that is not a big compliment to Williams just a realistic assessment of a kid who has ridden the coattails of others on stacked high school and AAU teams.

NW 77-65. Iowa scores late to make it look like a close 12 point loss to last place NW.

And NW’s starting 5 are all hurt or fouled out by halftime. Iowa still can’t win.

Meh f*** the excuses.

Seriously.

Why isn’t every other B1G team “mentally fried”?

It’s BS.

This team has a lot of weaknesses and B1G coaches have figured out how to exploit them.

Simple as that, and why I have more than a little hope that we win our first NCAA tourney game — coaches won’t be wise to no D Fran ball.

Are you blaming anyone for it? If not.....then it would be an explanation.

Lol, everyone gets a medal type of guy here.

No, this isn't an excuse. The team put themselves in this position, I want to make that clear. Also, no, not every team is mentally fried at this point in the season. I am pointing out the mental weakness of the team as a whole. There has to be something said about today's game too. It can go 1 of 2 ways. Can't wait to get back on the floor and work hard to fix what has been going wrong... OR, realize you have lost 4 in a row to teams that aren't very good (sans Maryland) while not playing well for a month. The easy and most likely thing to do is dwell on the negative, its human nature. It takes exceptional positive mindsets and belief to turn this around. The reason I do not have confidence in that happening is due to the constant whining about calls and dropping heads. I really want to be wrong and I will support the guys but I have little hope of not going 0-2 the rest of the way.

I just talked to Fran. He's definitely rooting for Northwestern on Wed. He said that it's not good enough that he's the only coach to ever lose a BTT Thurs game to a #12 AND #13 seed, so he is determined to add the #14 to his resume.
More than that. He got the 10, 11, 12, and 13 in the first round 4 consecutive seasons. (Not in that order) Only needs to lose to a 14.

I agree with you on these points. I agree that our competitors have indeed "figured us out" and they come right at us. And, I would add that the situation involving Fran hasn't helped, and probably caused a distraction to the players having to be led by two different assistants in a critical stretch of games. However, I wouldn't say that they are mentally fried. They just need to keep a positive attitude, play fundamentally better, and maybe some good things will happen.

If you are talking about the initial jump ball I would guess 30% chance. If you are talking about the game pretty much zero unless Iowa has an influx of transfers and a new coaching staff in 3 days. Oh yeah, and a new AD.

If the Hawks lose in round one, does the bubble burst?
No, lots of average in college hoops. Unless there is a plethora of surprises in conference tourney's for example if Rutgers wins the Big 10, WVU wins big 12, Georgia wins the SEC and so on, there are some 1 bid leagues that could become 2 bid leagues if the likes of Wofford and Buffalo lose.. A lot would have to happen
