I make grilled cheese sandwiches with the end part on the inside. I, of course, make sure one of my kids gets that sandwich.

I thought this thread was about females. Leaves disappointed.
I like to have three slices of bread when I make a sandwhich. The two outside pieces are the regular ones and the middle is the butt end.
And I'd toast the butt end. I love the soft and crunchy combo.

Ol' Doodle absolutely agrees with this. Although we civilized folks here at Doodle Manor call it the "heel" and not the "butt end". Mrs. D is not a fan that part of the bread loaf, but Doodle and Little Doodle like it so much that we sometimes have to do Rock, Paper, Scissors or Thumb War to see who gets it. Especially awesome for toast.
Took me a second to figure out what op was referring too. I only know it as the ‘corner’ of the loaf—-literal translation from Greek to English.

I will sometimes spread peanut butter on one & fold it in half, they're fairly good that way.
Two best uses, though:
* They are very good as a replacement for a hot dog bun
* When you have corn on the cob, slather one with an overabundance of butter & use it to butter the corn.

If you don't like the heel, is it safe to assume that you still cut the crusts off your bread, don't care for chunky peanut butter and don't like pulp in orange juice either? Just curious. Bread is like BBQ... better with crust.

We always called it the heel as well. Lightly toasted gives it a curved aspect which is great for hold an over easy fried egg and all it's runny glory.
