Alford posts never get old. UCLA is12-7 and down by 10 at half, losing to Dana Altman and Oregon. His team has talent but plays very disjointed. And a weak bench. Can't imagine he gets another year if he doesn't even make the NCAAs.
I wonder if that ten year deal at New Mexico is looking better all the time.
The only thing I'll say to this is that while Alford may have had a shovel in his hands, Lickliter grabbed it and dug like he was going to China.Don't care if he ever gets another job. Fran is digging IOWA out of the hole SA began burying it into and that's all I need to care about. So Sad UCLA.

I know some people can't get over their hatred of all things Alford, but the mess Fran took over had absolutely ZERO to do with Alford. That historically bad mess was all Lick. Worst 3 year period of Iowa basketball in something like 70 years. Look where Lick is coaching now. Case closed. You're not really disagreeing with him. SA started the slide downward. How many NCAA games did he win at Iowa? Case closed.
Drake will probably have one soon. That would be one way to get back into the MVC lol.Is there an opening at Ball State or Indiana State?
Not true. Alford burned down the house before he left.I know some people can't get over their hatred of all things Alford, but the mess Fran took over had absolutely ZERO to do with Alford. Are you serious? Alford always seems to fall up. If UCLA fires him, he'll probably end up at Kentucky. When he is hired to coach high school BB in Indiana..."This is the job I always dreamed of having."
Wrong, Alford started the mess, snuck out of town in the middle of the night, and Barta, being the new guy and desperate to make a splashy hire, gave us Lackluster. Alford started it all. Lackluster just put a fork in us.I know some people can't get over their hatred of all things Alford, but the mess Fran took over had absolutely ZERO to do with Alford. Alford left the bare cupboard--but Freeman, Tate, Cole, Kelly were decent players, Gatens was a legacy that committed during Alford era. Lickliter's best record was with Alford's leftovers.
Lickliter burned the kitchen down. Marble fell in LIck's lap as legacy and that is only good player Lick recruited that stuck. Brust fell in Lick's lap because he was buddy with Cully Payne, but to keep Brust you had to keep Lickliter, and that was a losing trade.

Are you unfamiliar with UCLA's recent coaching history?Yeah, I'm sure they fire a guy that has made it to two sweet 16's his first two years there.

As always I wonder why anyone cares what the future holds for Stevie Wonder.
If I remember some people on here was saying Frans seat was getting pretty hot after the first 8-9 games. Funny I don`t here that anymore. Thanks...This is where basic math comes in. NO one said Lick didn't suck at a record level. They just said that the program had developed an allergy to the big dance starting with Alford. The 20 years preceding him tells you what you need to know. History probably isn't your strength.
Yes, are you? Howland did great when he first started at UCLA then not so good his last five years. Lavin, again great but couldn't get over the hump. Harrick before that. All coached 7 years or longer. All given the chance to see if they could bring back UCLA. The common theme all given plenty of time. Not three years and after 2 sweet 16's. Two of them had other issues that were reasons they were shown to the curb. Alford will be given a couple more years with the class he has coming in.Are you unfamiliar with UCLA's recent coaching history?
