Gloom and doom for this coming year?

MG will be a huge upgrade at QB imo
RB will be solid
TE will be good
WR everyone is back and RVZ healthy could make a huge difference
OL will be solid but will have to gel quickly
DL will have some concern at DT just in terms of bodies
LB worried but should be ok
CB most worried about. Hall came on at the end of the year but still not sold on Lee being a difference maker
S no idea what to expect from X- keep waiting for the light to go on but just doesnt. Lutmer looked good and Ettinger will be on the field somewhere.

ST- good to great

8-4 sounds about right but with every Iowa team it will come down to winning close games. I think the QB addition might help us win a couple of games that we might not have otherwise.

Okay but what about Ferrari? Aint he the same?????????????????????????????????????????????? That kid kicked ass.
He/Ferrari was not wrestling a guy that weighed 30/40 pounds more, big difference. But, Keuter does need to stick to one sport IMO.

LB is the biggest question mark. And while there are 3 OL returning, the two new starters will be pretty green.

But QB is the most interesting story. Everyone here has crowned Grownoski the starter, and he certainly has the resume to warrant those expectations. But Brown got some starts for an SEC team so you can't count out his game. This was Sully's job so I expect him to fight like hell to keep it. He's got a lot of B1G starts under his belt. Stratton did enough to win a couple games last year and Lester hyped up how he threw the ball, so he's not your typical 4th string. Great QB room, but will they all still be there when fall camp rolls around.
Unless MG has not healed from his surgery or such, he is the starter. He has 2, 2 national championships under his belt along with numerous other achievements.

Ben Keuter got absolutely man handled against Okie State Sunday night. He got tech falled and damn near pinned. He should get back on the football field.
Outweighed in nearly every match by 30-50lbs. I'd rather he stay with wrestling, he took a year off from fb so he's a bit out of it.

Depends...he's getting paid big $$$ for wrestling only.

Goes back to football and I doubt he gets paid the same salary.
I can only imagine Iowa, PSU, and maybe Oklahoma State for that being the case. I'm not going to pretend to know what the actual NIL numbers are.

On the wrestling site, the number floating around for some time has been around $500k.

BK's mother posts and hasn't really argued that amount.
Crazy, huh?

I can see now why he went full time to wrestling. Just my shitty opinion, but after watching him at City High a few times, he absolutely has the body and the ability to be the next Jack Campbell.

Okay, here is my overly optimistic prediction if Gronowski turns out to be a stud, our young wrs step up like they could, our OL plays like seasoned vets every week, even against top competition, Lester's offense is opened even more, and our LB play doesn't drop off, and our secondary improves. We start the season 5-0. The fifth win is over Indiana who is "solved" by that point. We come out of the bye week and beat Wisconsin on the road. We pull off some of the ancient Kinnick magic and beat Penn State at home, then retain Floyd the following week. Sitting at 8-0 and ranked in the top ten, fans are feeling great. It's Kirk 7.0 and we're talking about how sad we are that he'll be retiring soon. We have Oregon coming to town and upset seems plausible. They curb stop us with a short passing attack and the blues carry over to California the following week because we don't win near Los Angeles. We sit at 8-2. The naysayers are back on the fire Ferentz bandwagon. Somehow Brian is blamed for the last two losses. We bounce back with wins over Michigan State and Nebraska to end the regular season 10-2. Then we do our post season thing.
Be overachieving at 7-5. 10-2 is laughable

Maybe I am wearing black and gold rose tinted shades lol… I think Iowa could have a better season than most expect. Usually when Iowa is picked to do sos so or at the bottom of the standings they usually sneak up on teams and do really well. I don’t want to jinx this team as it could go south if they can’t shore up the lines and what I am worried about is QB play and linebackers as we are losing some super talented players that have been just outstanding over the last few years. As for QB I think we have better talent this year than last year and I hope they can utilize both of them. I don’t care who’s at the helm as long as they can move the ball and get first downs and score I am all good with whomever gives them the best shots. I personally like Sully because the kid can scramble but I have no idea about Grownoski (sp)? But I am sure he is going to be a good one as well. Time will tell but I think iowa has a better record this coming year than last and of course I could be severely wrong but looking at the past usually Iowa shines when coming into the season being the underdog.
It is going to be Fry final years bad ... just a talentless, lifeless, program that cannot be protected by hand picked easy schedule anymore.

Didn't we blow the doors off USC in California a few years ago?

I would always like a starting OL from a Power 4 in the portal. Wouldn’t mind a starting LB, also.
