Was looking at Drake's roster and noticed no one was over 6'8" but also no one under 6'3" ... curious if BM just couldnt get a true center or prefers this kind of roster? TBH I kinda like it, somewhat positionless basketball, everyone can guard everyone so can switch everything and not let the other team single out the weakest link (looking at you Harding)

that is the reality of most small schools rosters.

I don't think McCollum liked the height and athleticism of that 6'9 dude for Texas Tech that scored at will vs them---Drake didn't have anyone that could guard him. Big priority at Iowa is to find a big guy for next year.

I would imagine he'll go for more size at center in P4 ball. The fact that the smallest guy he has is 6'3" makes it look like
he wants bigger guards that can hold their own on switches. Harding probably not a good fit. Having a 6'9 athletic center
is good enough vs most teams, but occassionaly you do run into teams with 7'0 guys and then it becomes a defensive mismatch. Purdue and Wisconsin usually have those guys.

This. Manyewu and Banks were good most of the season against bigger guys. McCollum doesn't really like to double the post much and give up wide open 3's. He had been recruiting Manyewu and Banks at NW but Manyewu ended up at Wyoming. Banks was a juco transfer. If you're a 6-9 big that can play you're probably playing at a Power 5 for NIL money. I had heard Manyewu was getting around 80K to play at Drake. No idea if that was true or not. And of course if you're an under recruited big at a small school you can always transfer up, which of course is what everyone does these days.

Who was the last 7 footer we had? have we even ever had one?

Apparently Iowa has reached out to 6'10" Valpo transfer Cooper Schwieger; but we are up against some heavy hitters for his services. Ya have to try I guess.

Several guys I can remember at 6'10 or 6'11, but 7 feet? I have to go back to Antonio Ramos, who didn't really even play, or Les Jepsen?

That said, I'm just hoping for strong guard play.
7'2 and I remember when he got the flu his weight got under 200 pounds. Finished out at the D3 level. I know a guy who played at one of the UW-somewhere schools and was talking about playing with him one time. He wasn't good...

There's really not much difference between 6'11" and 7ft, (I know one inch right) and we've had lots of 6'11" guys . Woodbury maybe 7', Jepsen I think was. An athletic 6'10" or 11" is fine..

very true. I feel every near 7 footer we've had has a 2" vertical and can barely dunk. I want someone who can defend the post, not be bulied and is a threat to block shots
