With the new coaching staff it's hard to say no, but does Nebraska want to possibly end up 5-8? Not a troll question, the situation hasn't presented itself to me before, so I'm genuinely curious.

Yes. Those 15 practices could be quite valuable to a new staff and future players.

You're a loser if you turn a bowl bid down.
1. Bowl revenue for yourself and the rest of the conference
2. Extra practice and an extra game
3. Denying the seniors one last game because you're afraid of losing (a great example to set for the rest of the team)

No. They don't get an invite. As a 5 win team is goes by grades and graduation rate.

That's a criteria but I find it hard to believe that if Nebraska is sitting there and they need a team they go with some crappy MAC school because of grades. I am sure the sponsors are saying woo hoo!

B1G rules don't give them an option to turn it down.

Haha...tell that to a school like Missouri.

Regardless, I'd love to have it repeated over and over again over the next month that Nebraska is 5-7. If they don't make a bowl, the memory of the 5-7 record will fade. Lets allow them in a bowl and keep that narrative alive.

Lastly, this Nebraska team is so bad that no additional practices will cure the ill. From a NU perspective, I'd want it to end.

....but as previously stated, from an Iowa perspective, I love hearing 5-7 over and over again.

It's going to be close if the bowls are filled by 6-6 teams or better. Indiana is now 6-6, VA Tech is 6-6, there are several others playing to hit 6-6 as well. At 5-7 you basically wait for the "left overs" of the bowls.

So at 5-7 they could play in the Armed Forces Bowl, New Mexico Bowl, etc...I am just throwing out options, but it literally could be one of those bowls played in 2 1/2 weeks from now.

Didn't we turn down a bowl game when we lost to WMU? or was that before the new rules?

No. There was a scenario involving a Troy State - somebody game that, had it gone the right way, we might have gotten a bid to the Armed Forces bowl. But the Troy game did not go the right way. No bid.

Nebraska has one of the highest APR scores in the country which is what 5-7 teams will be selected by. If offered, Nebraska needs to accept simply for the practice time

Didn't Notre Dame turn a bowl bid down once?

Oh, that's right; you did say "loser." :)

I have had a thought that if a bowl eligible team turns down an invite then the next time they become eligible they can not go. Pretty radical I know, but it was mainly directed at ND when their fans felt that accepting invites to lower level bowls was beneath them.
