Showed real point forward skills last night.

Does he or anyone really know who this kid is? A guard trapped in a bigs body? What is his role on this team? What does his skill set say is his best role?

This post is a mixture of the absurd and real opinion.

I'm not sure anyone really knows what to make of him.

I think that's the problem, nobody knows. He looked okay in the second half with the ball but how many times this year has he had a really bad turnover or obvious travel due to indecisiveness? He had one really bad one for sure in the first yesterday.

That said, his confidence seems to be growing which is always good.

My observation: Uhl excels on transition plays. He can lead a break off of a rebound and penetrate all the way to the hoop and he is a very good option without the ball as a lag on the perimeter for a 3PT shot.

Scottie pippen without any touch

That is pretty close description of his skillset.

His length/rebounding made a difference in the zone. Plus he could bring up the ball and lead fast break. Too bad every shot he throws up is a prayer.

Looks like he's one of those guys who's faster dribbling that running without the ball :D

But seriously, assuming he ends up playing in Europe for a couple of years, it will be interesting to see what skills he's developed in that time.

I'd love to see him try to model his game off of Scottie, obviously never being even remotely close to as good. He has decent athleticism and ball handling skills. Enough to bring the ball up court on a break. We don't need him to be a prolific scorer. We need him to play the offense, pass the ball, set screens, and hit a shot when wide open off a switched screen. He'd really up his usefulness if he could develop into a good on ball defender with his length. Basically be a slightly taller version of what we hoped Hutton would have been for us. We don't need him to defend the 5 anymore, and we're stockpiling 4s, so if he could develop the ability to defend 3s he'd still get ample playing time next year.

I liked him as the point forward. He's more confident and seems to be more into the game mentally that way. With Kriener and Wagner, it's good Uhl can more to be more perimeter oriented and be successfu. Hope to see it continue.

Definitely liked him bringing the ball up on breaks last night for sure. He was fast and confident as long as he got rid of the ball to the right guy on time. Just not good enough a finisher yet.

But it was very intriguing. Running the point though? Meh...doubt it - has to get down lower in the half court so little guys won't slip in and steal the ball away - and if the try and fail, have the offensive game to take advantage of it.

I do get the feeling next year, we're gonna be happy he stuck around. We're seeing flashes this year...just needs extended PT and with that more confidence.

Maybe then he'll blossom.

This is something I've liked about Uhl. There hasn't been much else, but I like that he can grab a rebound and immediately push at a good pace. He's actually been pretty decent these last couple weeks.

Certainly struggles to finish at the rim consistently. Bipolar from 3.

As weak a defender as he is, he's still better than Cook or Cordell. I thought he and Kriener were our best tandem on the defensive end. Baer is probably best overall, but just not big enough in the post.
