I think the most important takeaway from the decisions regarding Price and Smith are that the NCAA showed a willingness to grant redshirts in situations that did not technically comply with the defined standards.
One of the biggest arguments in Ott's case is that while he technically participated in 6 games this year, his injuries significantly limited his snaps in those games. Therefore his participation, substantively, was closer to 3 games.
If the decision is based on policy considerations, rather than bright line rules, then I like Ott's chances.
