looks like Drew Tate has retired after a pretty solid Canadian career and looks like he’s going to be a coach for coastal Carolina. One of my favorites and wish him nothing but the best of luck.

Yeah i ran into his high school buddy at an IHOP in Texas a couple months ago. He saw my hawkeye hat and we talked for about 15 minutes. He said Drew had just been hired at Coastal Carolina to coach defense.

I hope he makes his way back to IC at some point. Two of our quarterbacks during that period, Raih and Tate, should be on the long-term Iowa radar.

I'd like to see Tate coach some offense, specifically QB coach, see how he does and maybe bring him into the program.

Dick Olin was Clinton's head coach before moving to Texas. During Tate's senior year at Iowa, his mother lived in Clinton so she could be close to attend his games. .

correct Martha and her friend(Karen) both retired from teaching and lived in a furnished basement of a guy in Clinton who someone in the Houston Iowa Club knew. That(Drews senior year) was the first year she got to see all his games. Like it or not her and Dick were both teachers and flying to the MW every weekend was expensive. Dick made all the games but not Martha. I know both Martha and Karen very well as well as Drews sister

The guy in Clinton you refer to is a friend of Dick Olin. They were both students at UNI in the 60's but don't know if they knew each other then and both became teachers at Clinton High. That's why Martha stayed in Clinton.
