DSM Area Hawk Fans

Understand the enthusiasm and agree we need satalite clubs in Central, NW, West and far Eastern and or S. Eastern Iowa. However, we already have a club here in the Iowa City/Cedar Rapids area....the HWC board. It might be more productive to get invovlved with it and help them with man power both for current fund raising efforts and in being able to add new ones. We could talk to the current board and see how they would like things structured here to realize the best results. Could be they will be all for a new chapter here. Guess I could ask if that would be good with all HWC fans here in the IC/CR area?

bb & Acu - I'm from Independence & would love to offer my services. You tell me which group makes the most sense & I'm in. Thanks to everyone for their efforts on this, and a special thanks to WWDM for jump-starting the dialogue on these satellite groups - your passion is contagious! Let's do our part to help get the Hawks where they belong!!

Good point, bb. I have little doubt that the HWC board would like to have a group in that area on whom they can call to be active in various fundraising efforts, etc., in the IC/CR corridor. I won't speak for Randy and the crew, but I do think a group in IC/CR similar to the one developing in DSM could still bring a lot of value to that area, even with the HWC board nearby. We'll all be "answering" to the HWC board and making sure to get their approval for our activities, regardless of location, anyway.

Still, I'd certainly defer to the HWC board as to what kind of group they might want functioning in that area.

Now, a Quad Cities group is a no-brainer, IMO. I'd also really like to see a north Iowa group (Mason City area) and a western Iowa group (Council Bluffs? Sioux City?). The DSM is pretty much south-central, so not sure about a southern Iowa group, but that would certainly be fine by me, as well. Then, again, I ain't the boss. Just spit-balling.

BBwretler- I just sent you an email as a follow up from our DSM meeting to address similar issues moving forward and how we ALL can most efficiently support HWC/Iowa Wrestling. Thanks!

Spoke with Randy and he says sure, go ahead. With a group here we should be able to help with local events, get the word out to more people, and hopefully come up with new ideas and suggestions to raise money.

Contact me at: mwptguard@aol.com. We will be establishing a group here in the corridor area.

Perfect. Pretty much exactly what I was thinking/hoping.

The HWC board is extraordinarily accommodating and willing to collaborate, which bodes very well for a herculean effort by Hawkeye Nation!

Your area/ Waterloo should have enough fans to form their own. I think the biggest thing right now is to form the groups so we have instant contact with those wanting to help. That will allow us to jump right in when the time comes. You can think of us as a national guard. Not always active but on call when needed.
Or even better, humming along at a baseline level of activity, raising funds in various ways, and when the reinforcements are needed, POW! We all come running.;)

I like the idea of a Waterloo/Cedar Falls chapter, too.

I'm all for this. I live in the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area and would be willing to get involved somehow.
Maybe you're the new chair of the Waterloo/Cedar Falls group! You could create a thread inviting folks to join that group and see what happens.

That's great because Quad Cities/Eastern Iowa is probably a little easier for me. Although I am about half way between the two. I am glad you can take charge of IC/CR. I am willing to help out in either area.
Sounds good. I have contacts in both Western and NW parts of the states. See what we can get going there.

All DSM HWC volunteers, I have established a Google Group on behalf of Central Iowa. Working with WWDM on this. He has collected the names and you have already received an invite to our group or will be receiving one soon. It will come from hwccic@gmail.com. So please be on the lookout for an invite from "HWCCIC@gmail.com" and accept the invite to stay informed on what is taking place in Central Iowa! What a great diversion and cause!! Excited to be part of this!

Up to 21 members and growing! And we've got some serious movers and shakers in this crew! The DSM group is definitely going to make its mark.

How about the Quad Cities, North Iowa, and western Iowa? Let's get groups going there, too. I know there has been talk of a Waterloo/Cedar Falls group, too. The more, the merrier.

Just a bump. In case you're in the DSM and still want to jump in, we have about 20 people coming to our first gathering on Wednesday, May 3. It's never too late to join the team (and my, what a team it is!), but if you're a diehard Iowa wrestling fan and you want to get in on the f***, just email kurdelmeierrocks@gmail.com.

If, by chance, you've emailed and not received a response, please email again. We've gotten quite a few over the last few weeks and it's possible we may have missed replying to someone. Don't think we have, but just in case -- if you didn't receive a response, it was just an oversight, and we'd love to have you join us!
