so. Strimmatter has more character in his pinky than Taylor's whole body. Not sure if they are close to the same area but if they are I know where I would send my kid.

About 2 1/2 hours apart. Just thought it might be of interest since many on this board have expressed interest in trying to get DT to coach at Iowa.

He wasn't wrong with what he said. Cox's performance and "effort level" left a lot to be desired, especially against a guy who didn't really belong on the mat against him.

He just shouldn't have said it publicly.

He critiqued Gilman and Cox but not Logie (bud) or Gwiz (teammate). Cox went down early and just didn't seem to have anything left. It happens. Worlds is a tough tourney no matter who they put in front of you. DT wouldn't know that though. Cox now has an Olympic and a world medal.

Not disagreeing with you. He certainly picks and chooses who he criticizes. I personally was damn proud of Gilman and didn't expect him to be on the podium. I also agreed with DT's critique of Cox. He was far better and just didn't wrestle with any heart out there.

I picture you opening a fresh bag of Doritos and cracking a Mt Dew after clicking on Reply.

Oh sorry I can't criticize but you can. I like DT and he wrestled an "Iowa" style. I also like guys who show emotion like he does. The WTT match 3 was ridiculous, no one can deny that. I'm sure he's still bitter.

If he wore black and gold, then you'd be all over his jock. But he didn't, so you hate him.

Pretty sensitive aren't we? Are you rooting for PSU this year since you abandon your team with PD3 coming in?

Oh and I picture you as a fat, old man with a miserable wife who is tired of a husband living vicariously through 20 y/o.

Says the guy professing his admiration for a 20 year old.

It just seems...silly?

"That multiple time NCAA champ, world and Olympic medalist doesn't show any heart. Now excuse me while I get off the cart and hit this tricky approach shot."

Says the DT lover.

Did I strike a nerve?

In that one match he didn't show heart, like he didn't against McIntosh after he got beat by Snyder. Just like Burroughs didn't in his 2nd loss in Rio. It happens and it's the truth. Doesn't mean he needs to make it public.

Question his heart, don't question his heart, makes no difference to me, just don't do it while a guy is still in the middle of a World medal run with matches still on the table.

I wouldn't like it from a journalist or commentator, but maybe that's their job during an event to describe what they are seeing, but from a teammate, fellow competitor and past and future representative of team USA? A cheap shot that is below someone who is striving to be our future representative.

Want to nail him with a critique, wait until it's over or better yet, let your wrestling do the talking. Today should be nothing but support for all our representative.

It just seems ridiculous to question someones "heart" in this case.

Agree 100%. For someone to take the time to go to a forum, the day a guy has to wrestle 5 matches in like 8 hrs to win the title, and question the kids "heart" when he gets bested, just a single time in all his matches, is ridiculous. You should probably follow a different sport, this one is too good for you.

What is the difference between him saying it on twitter and people saying on this board? Both are saying it publicly.
On the one hand we are trying to be classy and supportive and on the other we are coddling everyone and giving them all medals. If Cox had a bad moment or match, it can be mentioned, but not belabored and it is ok. It does not matter on what venue that is done. Just my 2 cents.

How about the heart he showed to get off his back? With Freestyle rules, a vast majority of guys get stuck there. The energy it takes to get out of that can drain the best conditioned guys. Add in that he said he felt a little off today and was coming off a knee injury. Heart had nothing to do with it. Hell, he wasn't ever really an offensive juggernaut when he was striking on all cylinders. Too many cheap seat comments in my opinion. The guy still managed to out score his opponent 3-0 after that with Makeover wrestling as defensive as humanly possible.

He was wrestling in the fricking World Championships, regardless of whether it may have been a thinner field the year after the Olympics, his opponents are world class. He lost one match 6-3. To me, questioning his heart either comes from bitterness or a complete lack of understanding the stage he was wrestling on.....

Big difference...we are not their peers and are fans. Anything we say is taken with a grain of salt. DT is Jan Brady sitting at home on his couch thinking he should be Marsha: A career world team backup who can never win the big match even with the hype that surrounds him. Despite this, he felt the need to put Cox on blast, for lack of heart of all things, who he couldn't beat despite Cox's knee being hurt at Trials.

Because questioning the heart of a two time world medalist and 2 time NCAA champ while being an anonymous fat slob behind a keyboard couldn't possibly be more pathetic. One thing that comes close...having the guy who's ass he beat for a spot on the team do the same thing publicly.

In fairness to Taylor, he got royally screwed in the match with Cox. I'm sure he has sour grapes.
I also think he may have won gold had he been the rep at 86Kg.
These are still young guys at the highest competitive level in the world.
They sometimes say stupid things.
The champion yesterday from Iran is the same guy Taylor was leading and eventually pinned in his home country at the world cup 6 months ago.

What do you think I'm responding to?
Royally screwed or not this is a classless response to what should be a great day for USA wrestling.

I didn't really think much of his behavior after USA trials as they were in the heat of the moment. Today's response is more indicative of troubling pattern IMO.

DT had a heck of a World Cup. But so did Frank before him. And Metcalf. Both DNP'd for their respective times on the World stage. These guys don't peak for the World Cup. They don't peak for Beat the Streets. They peak for Worlds/Olympics. Yazdani was gassed...shot himself out against Taylor going for the quick win (Taylor had two fleeing cautions against him). Yaz had two points scored against him yesterday and TF'd everybody except for one guy. If not for Snyder, he'd be the OW.

Anything can happen in a World Tourney. Guys can go on great runs or they can just flat run out of gas....especially when the times between goes starts getting a lot shorter. I think this happened to Cox. Nothing Taylor has done outside of the cup shows me he would have won gold.
