Is it possible that the influx of early commits over the summer gave the current team a little extra motivation to work harder, be better, etc? For two reasons really: 1) Because they're excited that prospects see great opportunity, want to jump on board early, and that these new players will really help the team, and 2) Because they know these new players will be coming in wanting to compete for their jobs.
Since they're committed, it feels more real to the current players that more competition is on the way.
I don't know if that happens or not. Call it a bye week musing.
