I'm asking a reasonable question. Not trolling. Not flaming. And not fabricating. With that disclosure out of the way, I've heard rumblings about discontent between Stroker and staff. Has anyone heard anything similar? If there was an issue, would that possibly open the door for a transfer to Iowa? He and his father spent an awful lot of time around the program.

If he wants to walk-on for basically nothing. Not much room at The Inn for Stroker that I can see.

So is the thread about Early or Stroker?

In the case of Stroker, as much as I hate to say it, a lot of coaches will not be interested.

Stroker is a tough, talented kid. If he could thrive anywhere it'd be under Tom and Terry. But there's some baggage, and he's not at a needed weight until Sorensen graduates in two years. Transferring to Iowa and sitting for two more years before he wrestles a varsity match seems unlikely. He'd have to really want to be here badly for that scenario to play out vs. going somewhere else and having three years in the lineup. But I have no idea what drives him.

From what I know, his Dad is a big Iowa fan and it was Fredy's choice to go to Minne...haven't heard of any trouble up North of the wall. Fredy's a good kid from everything I'vr heard and seen...I kind of doubt he or his Dad would give the Minne coaches any trouble.

I'd also add that the wrestling community is kind of small and we get a lot of folks on here. Best be sure about spreading rumors like this.

I'd love to have a kid that talented and tough in the room. I don't have any knowledge of baggage etc, but firmly believe that TnT know best. If he ends up a Hawk, It means Brands & Co wants him, and that would be very exciting.

I think he spent a lot of time around Daniel Dennis as well. I heard Dennis coached him one year at the Freakshow. I figure if Dennis doesn't think he's a douche, well that's good enough for me. Hadn't heard about any baggage as well. I would have liked Fredy as a Hawk...just vigorously disagree with his taste in schools is all

At the midlands there was a rumor that Stroker and Early were transferring to UNI? Since they were transferring out of the BigTen they would have all four years eligibility, 33 Alber, 41 Thompsen, 49 Stroker, 57 Stiert, 65 Early now this would be a very scary young lineup. I didn't think much about the rumor until this thread. What say PBS?

Good luck with that. I am curious, tho, where this may have started. While it's no secret Minny is struggling, I think it may be a bit early(no pun intended) for the redshirts to panic.

The biggest thing that surprises me is the pure number of top level recruits from the State that have gone elsewhere in recent years. Other then the legacy kids... they haven't gotten much. McKee and Steveson are a few that have stayed.

Only true if Minnesota releases them. Has nothing to do with leaving the B1G. So, if that was the rumor, there's a huge, huge hole in it.

Stroker leaving Minny, on the surface, doesn't make sense to me. With what they have at 149, he's nearly guaranteed to start next year. Short had big credentials coming to college, but h as struggled with injuries and conditioning.

If there's a problem... it's more likely that J is soon gone and Eggum most likely isn't the answer.

The other possibility is there were other bigger issues with the NCAA collapse last season and possible in-fighting.

Can't say I feel too sorry for that second rate fan base.

Chief: Tough to prove anything on a message board. However, this has been discussed her ad nauseum, not to mention the many other places on the web where it has been discussed. The toothpaste was out of the tube long ago.

.

Jake Short is currently ranked 9th in the country by InterMat and wrestled in the finals of Cliff Keen last month. He did get injured last season, but it looks like he made some good adjustments in the early going of this season.

Looked at "WrestleStat" and he's 26th. Pick any ranking because they are subjective.

My point is that Short has seemingly underachieved to date.

To me it looked like the point you were trying to make was that Stroker is a near guarantee to start for Minnesota next year. While Short has underachieved to this point, he's not a pushover.

Point taken!

And who knows... Short 149/Stroker157?

So the Squawkeye rumor is that Stroker and Early are unhappy at Minny? Is this started by the same person who said that Marinelli is decommitting at Iowa?

And you expect to be taken seriously? Hook.. line... and sinker.

You're gonna have to do better than that. Good luck next time around.

My thoughts exactly about this idiotic thread.
And yet... here you are. Gopher fans are nervous, no doubt.
The thought that the Gophs could lose a dual against Iowa State should be cause for concern. Then again... Minny lost to freaking Indiana.

sorry guys i'm on jammies side on this one. I do not like this thread.
Why? Minnesota's problems are worth debating. Back in the days when they were competitive they were a good rival. Now... with a few things happening... Iowa could pitch a shutout in a dual.

don't care about minny, they are big boys can take care of them selves, but fredy and little bear are two fine young men and i just don't care for this discussion that's all, I can see how it is news worthy to all of us, it just seems distasteful to me, sorry.

I've been told about a few problems involving Stroker and the coaching staff and I live in Wyoming. I've got alot of relation living up and around the Twin Cities.

Someone hears about something and ask questions it's a big deal? We talk about this kind of stuff all the time. No one has been insulted and the OP even said he was just trying to get information. Nobodies getting hurt by a thread that will only last a couple days.

All good points.

But sometimes... where there's smoke, there's fire. The fact that Minny has fallen so hard/so fast will lead to questions. And in the fact that J is pretty old and you can see where outsiders might question the program. When you see highly rated upper classmen like the Dardanesx2, Schiller, Ness(injuries) and others not improve much... you go back to the days when Schlatter actually regressed from his early years.

Losing multiple high profile in-State high schoolers(Bennick/Hall/Parriot/Gross) you can understand the questions. Something is going on.
.
We can wonder. Certainly the Dakota schools have been the beneficiaries of the exodus of kids from Ski U Mah.

You have situations where a program declines with a coaching change... see ISU. Minny has lost a few very good assts in recent years. I doubt there's just a single issue there.

We are just speculating here. But isn't that a big part of the message board fascination?

But Thompsen isn't a 41lber and early isn't a65

But what if I said I was not trolling, not flaming, and not fabricating while providing details? The NLWC had their checkbooks out, but Cael decided ten 165ers was probably enough. Ryan said only if you can make 149. John said Cowboy Up we can always foot the bill.

The toothpaste came out of the tube the day he committed to Minne...people were genuinely pissed because we were freaking out over recruiting, or lack thereof. All of a sudden, Stroker was this or that without anything genuine to point to. IIRC, this is what started the feud with Flo...the dumpster fire thread comment on twitter.

Does he have brushes with the law or been arrested? Bad grades? Attitude problem? Thing is, I have never heard any specific dings against Stroker, except that his Dad has gone nuclear on twitter or a few message boards...ironically, on these types of threads I'd imagine. Other than that, just generalized rumors that really ramped up once he didn't go to Iowa.

How about too many coaches wanting to be the next head coach. It's a recipe for chaos, disaster, and throat cutting:

Minnesota -
J Robinson - Head Coach, Brandon Eggum - Head Assistant Coach, Luke Becker - Assistant Coach, Dustin Schlatter - Volunteer Assistant Coach, Mary Christensen-White - Executive Administrative Specialist, Jayson Ness - Administrative Assistant, Tony Nelson - Administrative Assistant, Zach Sanders - Administrative Assistant, Dylan Ness - Administrative Assistant, Nick Dardanes - Administrative Assistan, Chris Dardanes - Administrative Assistant, and Scott Schiller - Marketing Administrator

Compare to -

Iowa -
Tom Brands - Head Coach, Terry Brands - Associate Head Coach, Ryan Morningstar - Assistant Coach, Ben Berhow - Volunteer Assistant Coach, Luke Eustice - Director of Wrestling Operations, Travis Rutt - Strength and Conditioning Coach, and Jesse Donnenwerth - Athletic Trainer

Penn State
- Cael Sanderson - Head Coach, Cody Sanderson - Associate Head Coach, Casey Cunningham - Head Assistant Coach, Frank Molinaro - Assistant Coach, and Adam Lynch - Director of Operations

OSU -
John Smith Head Coach, Eric Guerrero Associate Head Coach, Zach Esposito Assistant Coach, Cayle Byers Volunteer assistant coach, and Chris Perry Volunteer assistant coach

Given past results its safe to say watching their twitter feeds may tell us if there is anything to this? Fredy and his dad would likely squash this rumor if untrue. Their twitter response game is pretty strong. Silence may tell us that somethings brewing becuase I dont think they could stay off the twitter feed if it was untrue. Heck if it was me id get out in front of it with a tweet if i read this thread.

But lets say he did transfer out?

I could see Sparky being his play. ASU was in on him till the end, he likes it there and it would be a better team to wrestle on. Minny isnt competing for a team title anytime soon. ASU will. Losing out on Hall was pretty big blow to that program. They really needed him being somewhat instate and all. IMO they are unraveling and JRob retiring cant be too far behind. I dont buy into Eggum being a good enough national brand recruiter.

My question is lets say ASU is his play. Do they have a 149/157 big recruit in the wings or would Stroker just fit right into their plans? Whats the projected middleweight lineup for them next year? Where does Marucca project? Isnt that Sheilds kid their too?
