Those of us with Mediacom feel your pain. Channel 8 has been blocked out for months now.

Actually, these disputes are at the Corporate Level.

ABC wants more money for the content they provide; Your cable company/Dish/Direct TV/etc does not want to pay the additional money. So, the channel goes dark until there is a resolution

I get ABC. The local affiliate chose to show some BS outdoor survival show. And I typically like outdoor survival shows. They are showing the Meatchicken v Baylor game now though 🤔
