Lazard is an ISU fan favorite, but he doesn't have great top speed or separation and I don't think he's big enough to fight for balls in the NFL. Hakeem Butler will most likely be drafted next year. He's a much better player.

What about that all-amercan linebacker of theirs, Lanning? I thought he'd go first round since some team can play him both ways at QB &, LB, haha.
I guess it was an easy decision for Lazard to come back for his senior year when the NFL evaluation came back as "undrafted."
Aw c'mon now. Hawkeye fans take the high road. No need to start bashing other teams until the week we are set to beat them on the field.

It has to be speed that is keeping teams from pulling the trigger on him.
Ferentz and Iowa have a solid reputation of getting kids NFL ready, so no one should be surprised that quite a few Hawkeyes routinely get drafted. Obviously there is an ebb and flow from year to year, but Iowa is quite often well represented in the Draft for not being a blue blood. Wish more high school prospects would wake up and see that.
I think we need some bigger programs to obsess on. Focusing on these keeps us happy with not being ELITE.
