Ellingson hit a HUGE three last night that sent Carver into a frenzy. Congrats to the kid who is often maligned, but who has become a solid role player who never forces a shot. That three he hit from the corner last night almost helped the Hawks pull out a big upset.

As for Wagner, well, he was a beast on the offensive boards late. Without his super effort, Iowa doesn't make that comeback. Those who want to send him off to the football field may be a bit premature. The kid was spectacular, and even his FT shooting is improving. As I said in another thread, he and Baer should be inserted into the starting lineup next time out.

Well done, Ellingson and Wagner. Keep it goin', and the Hawkeyes could make a great run the rest of the season.

My buddy said Wagner impressed him tonight Said he as active on the boards and also was able to drive to the basket.

Where has that been all season? The kid is our best ATHLETE and he needs to take control more. I just don't get it how he can play like he did last night and then play the complete opposite. If he would get a 15ft jump shot, the kid would be deadly.

Well said Aristotle.........It was quite obvious also when Baer ran out of gas at the 2 minute mark left in the game the Hawks fell apart. He deserves to start and yet I really like him off the bench too. Maybe not at the 16:00 minute mark. Maybe like at the 18 minute mark. Wagner totally owned this game. I was very happy for him.

Wagner did look good last night,... Best game I've seen from him....

I agree. Wagner was a spark and Ellingson hit his only bucket at a key time, but the TURNOVERS! In the last couple of minutes Jok, Bohannon and Baer all got picked and Maryland went in for layups! That's how close we were to winning, folks. I realize Maryland had a lot of turnovers, too. Aside from Wagner, nobody else really stepped up tonight. Cook (1-6), Kriener (2-6), Jok (4-12), Bohannon (4-14), Jones (0-2), Williams (0). That's 25% shooting from those six guys- 11 of 40). Moss was 3-8 and Ellingson was 1-3. Only Baer, Wagner and Pemsl had decent shooting nights. On the bright side, Maryland is really good and we almost won.

Ellingson and Wagner had very good nights. The bench is so important in games for all teams. Nice to these guys hard work in practice translate to good game play.

Wagner is fun to watch if just for his hard work. At times though, he looks like a football player playing basketball.

Cook, Pemsl, Wagner and Kriener all split minutes playing between 15-20. They had 7,4 ,6 and 6 rebounds respectively. While almost everyone had an off shooting night they were active on the boards and improved free throw shooting. Now to somehow guard the three point line.
