Kentucky man who did not want employer to throw birthday party awarded $450K
Kevin Berling said he suffered a panic attack after learning about the surprise luncheon.
Imagine having to be his teammate and you gotta be like "tune em out, bro. but next time get consent."Pierre Pierce deserved those chants. Fugg him,

He should have sat outside while the rest of the office had cake."Nobody gets to have cake because you have an anxiety disorder??? You're not a team player."
He should have sat outside while the rest of the office had cake.
"Focus, Pierre, focus. If you see it open, just take it. I'm talking about the shot, Pierre, not OP's mom."Then finding out that he did it again, “for phuck sakes Pierre, I said get consent”
Why is that? What a putz and ridiculous that this case ever got past the laughing stage. Messed up.
Plaintiff deserves the cash simply for bringing Trad and Lucas into agreement here. If Trad is on the employee’s side, the guy has to have an ironclad case.
Agreed. No idea how they didn’t settle this out. “Your honor, he made his wishes very clear at every turn, but we didn’t care and plowed ahead anyway. We should win.”Oh, this company screwed up here over and over again. Absolutely horrible response at every step. And the cherry on top was putting this in front of a jury. That should have never ever happened.
She forgor.Agreed. No idea how they didn’t settle this out. “Your honor, he made his wishes very clear at every turn, but we didn’t care and plowed ahead anyway. We should win.”
Sorry, should have taken it like a champ is what I meant to say.Per the article, thats what he did. And then got read the riot act for doing it.
Why? He requested to not have one because it induces stress he can't handle. When they threw one, he removed himself from the situation that causes him stress. That should have been the end of it. What good does it do for him or anyone else to "take it like a champ." He didn't want to be there, and I'm betting none of his coworkers did either.Sorry, should have taken it like a champ is what I meant to say.
Still, everything past the party is on the company. I'd excuse the party, but everything else is a cascading failure.
I’m also willing to bet that there aren’t all that many companies that throw birthday parties for their employees. It’s a waste of resources and productivity.
Instead of throwing a party, they should have offered the dude the day off. If he doesn’t want to take his birthday off, he can save it for a day of his choosing. It’s water under the bridge at that point, but the moral of the story is, parties are for kids. This is the work force, not the third grade. Nobody gives a shit about cake except for fat middle aged women.
I guarantee you there is now one fewer than before.I’m also willing to bet that there aren’t all that many companies that throw birthday parties for their employees. It’s a waste of resources and productivity.
