Right now it's between Iowa and Michigan, but Texas will enter the discussion if they offer. Iowa has made a very good impression on him...his visits in March to Texas, Michigan, and Iowa will probably be the telling moment to see if Iowa stays in the picture. Give him some love, Iowa City!!

Well, that good to hear...let's hope he doesn't go gaga when he sees the big house, or when Texas throws him a bone at his visit! He'll come to Iowa City last, so the Hawks will get to reinforce their position.

I'm really excited about Eno. What a smart move on his part to play behind our line.

I'm going to keep the faith on Eno. (Is he staying in one of Kirk's spare bedrooms?)

Yeah you are not kidding. I am not bashing anybody because I think we have had some good backs over the years, but a ton of bad luck with most of our most talented. Freddie Russel left early, Albert Young (best IMO) was oft injured, Shonn Green played only one full season (record breaking season), Lewis had major injuries, Wegher's many issues, Young's concussions, Coker....whatever happened there, not to mention some didn't even make it on campus and some other issues that I just can't think of right now. With all of that over the last how many years, we still manage to have a more than respectable running game, now imagine a young man like Eno running in this scheme behind our line......

I hated reading your history. I'd put most of it out of my mind. As I read this it hit me what a find our staff made with Akrum Wadley. 2* guy who IMHO has star written all over him "IF" he has the durability.

But boy are we a fit for Eno and he has no idea what a superstar he will be the day he steps over the Missouri boarder.

Believe me I hated writing it, but people often forget how much "bad luck" we have had at arguably one of our most important positions over the past 15 years. We all know it is imperative for us to establish a running game, but boy has that been difficult without the players we have recruited to our RB position. There is absolutely nobody to put this blame on because the issues are not isolated but vary tremendously and can only be thought of as simply unfortunate bad luck.

I'm guessing you meant Adam Robinson when you listed Young's concussions and a few others would be Michael Malloy who got in trouble in high school, lost his scholly and then tried to earn it back, Barkley Hill who was injured before he could show us what he could do and 4* Greg Garmon who had some legal issues but played some as a freshman and then transferred.

Since 2009 the rb position. Has been kinda a slap in the face, with injuries and attrition. (Even this year).. But before 2009 it was pretty solid, except for 2004, But since then we have had 3-4 stars transfer out of Iowa. Another who couldn't qualify. Robinson and McCall who looked like they could be something special leave the team.. I don't think getting the highly touted running backs are the issue its keeping them..

Yes i did mean robinson, thank you for catching that. Also, Greving in 03 and the entire RB position in 04

I see that Bobby Kennedy is the lead recruiter for Benjamin.

Is there a back story or some special connection?

Just wondering because it is not often that Iowa is "easily leading" for a highly rated Texas running back.

I'm not sure that there is a special connection Iowa was one of his first offers and the offense. A few things I've read: he says that he likes that Iowa recruits a lot of big in-state lineman. He has also said the coaches have pointed out that Iowa 2 and 3 star running backs put up big numbers, so imagine what a 4 star could do and that they believe he could put them in the college football playoff.
He sometimes tweets at Epenesa and recently asked for people to make Iowa edits for him.

Coaches recruit regions, not positions. Kennedy recruits Texas. This has been discussed ad nauseam on this board.

I don't believe that is what he was asking. He is asking if Iowa and or Kennedy have some connection to this kid that would make Iowa a favorite for a highly rated Texas RB. Because that doesn't usually happen.

I didn't read it that way at first, but I get what you are saying.

I'm not sure if there is a connection with Eno/Kennedy/Iowa other than Eno is seeing what fans have been saying for years about top rated RBs coming to play for Iowa. Eno sees the chance to play for a run first, pro style offense in the age of spread, pass first attacks. Eno sees the chance to run behind big, strong offensive lineman at a school that regularly puts OL in the league. Eno sees the chance to be the guy at a school that usually lacks top notch talent at the skill positions, rather than go to a blue blood school and be just another guy.

It would be great if Eno would pull the trigger for Iowa early and help AJ bring some more highly ranked guys with them to Iowa City.

Sounds like he is taking his visits this spring, Iowa being his final visit which is crucial. I would not be surprised if he commits late spring/early summer, hopefully to Iowa

I'm aware of regional recruiting assignments just wondering, as David1979 stated, about any pre-existing special connections or circumstances which would explain Benjamin's seemingly high early interest in the Iowa football program. Just curious. The feedback so far doesn't appear to reveal anything special in that regard.

Jeff Brinson, Jevon Pugh, and Kalvin Bailey to the what could have been list.

DeAndre Johnson was preferred over James White, who ended up at Wisco & now Patriots.

Not really preferred.. Marcus Coker was the #1 target at rb.. When he committed they told Johnson and white first to commit gets the spot and Johnson jumped first..
