Would be cool, but not getting my hopes up until something official. And personally I won't believe it until he signs on the dotted line.

Yea, I bet he's just going to Iowa on Sunday. For Junior Day. In any case, as a '17 recruit, a verbal now means more than nothing but less than something.

Don't know why a kid would verbal this early. Unless of course he's a die hard hawk, could open the eyes for other recruits.

I just don't trust the recruiting circus that goes on in this age.

I have a recruiting question but did not want to start a thread. Why would it be that Harris and Wirfs were both downgraded to 3 stars on both 247 and Rivals, at this point in time? Could it have anything to do with them committing to Iowa, or is that a little too much of a conspiracy theory?

Get the ball rolling for the class and would help draw in other top recruits after seeing the class that is put together so far.

Someone just tweeted and said, "Bama wasting no time, recruiting the "ville" today.

Not good if Saban is sniffing around.

247 has Wirfs as a 91 4* grade and Harris as a 90 4* grade. Their "composite" ranking system has moved them down to 3*. Either because one of the other ranking systems was changed or added into the composite mix as its an aggregate of several sites data.

I am sure the reason they got moved down was because they committed to Iowa. I am sorry but rankings are all about who Oregon, Stanford, Bama, OU, and any other SEC teams get.

I would bet Iowa could get a commit front he #1 player in the nation and the kid would drop because of being committed to Iowa. Rankings are very subjective and they change all of the time. But one thing I have noticed is anytime a high profile player commits to Iowa, their ranking for whatever changes and kids who commit to the "blue bloods" of football seem to go up?

Happens all the time, this is not isolated to Iowa. Happens to most schools.

I will say this though. Several 2 star recruits for Iowa have gained a star, is it because Iowa did well and finished ranked 9 or is it because of more film and a good senior year.

Oregon is becoming a thing of the past.

Saw a Tom Lemming show on CBSSports network last nite and he was featuring top recruits for 2017....spent a solid 2 minutes on AJ ...said Iowa is the team to beat and praised the iowa staff for player development...mentioned that his dad was a Hawk. Said AJ is clearly one of the top 5 d-linemen in the nation. Come to Iowa,AJ!!!

James Daniels? Went from a 3 star, to a 4 star, after his verbal to Iowa..

They reevaluate at certain points each year...which mostly means who else offered from our last ranking.....bama and some other schools offered between him being a 3* and the next "evaluation"....since bama and others offered, boom 4*, nothing to do with Iowa verbal...sorry but IMO these "recruiting experts" don't know shit 95% of the time....they get lazy like rest of us from time to time at their job...they go off of highlight films and offers and act like they watch actual game film with a fined tooth comb...that's why 4* 5* ratings are pretty accurate and 3* and below is a crap shoot. Hell I could give a list of 4 & 5 * kids. He is 6'5" 250 and runs a 4.5 with offers from Bama, OSU, LSU, etc.Llook at all the MAC level "2*" kids are in the NFL, hell more than 1/2 Iowa's NFL players were "under rated" what ever the hell that means. Just my opinion

Has anyone ever thought about the fact that Iowa has a bball game against Michigan on Sunday? It's pretty common to take recruits to bball games

Aj is iowas to lose.. I think he will end up a Hawkeye. But the saban won't let up easy... Kirk had to show aj what former players think of Iowa.. Former Hawkeyes are proud they played at Iowa.. And his Hawkeye fandom will secure the comit

There are a lot of 2 and 3 star recruits in the NFL because there are only a limited number of 4 and 5 star kids. When there are 10x as many 2 and 3 star recruits, of course there are going to be a lot of them in the NFL.

just pointing out it is far from exact science and actually I am going as far and say it is no science at all. There are very few recruiting "exports" that are worth a crap

AJ is a 4 star on rivals. Was he a 5 star an hour ago? Serious question.

Holy cow, did not think you were telling the truth but he is a 4 star? When did he become 4 star? #1 DE in country with offers from 100+ schools (including all the "Powers") and he is a 4 star? Thought for sure he has always been a 5 star? Does Rival have an automatic star deduction formula in their program for Iowa commits?!?!?! None the less who cares, now we have some great recruiters for our 2017+ classes
