Epstein indictment unsealed; Some Republicans and Democrats could be in trouble

"Mr. Acosta, YOU'RE FIRED"!!!
There is zero reason to keep Acosta on board. Fire him and look like you are being decisive, and to provide separation for yourself.

Should have happened the day the Herald article came out.

Sorry I wasn't clear. I'll try to clarify.

Oh look, the Liar in Chief rolling on the beach.

Imagine the state of our politics where you have to announce that you hope ALL pedophiles get punished.

Considering the defense or whataboutism that a few people around here will provide, you are absolutely correct.

He's not riggling out of this one. He may start singing bigly. I bet Clinton is sweating the most right now. 20+ trips on the express jet and he ditched his SS details occasionally too.

Clinton has put out a detailed statement refuting a lot of what is out there. No trips on the plane that did not have Secret Service along for the ride. Only four flights, all to destinations related to the Clinton Foundation. No contact with Epstein for ten years.
Trump has made no statements about his longtime personal friend, and a member at Mar A Lago.
To the point about him singing, I don't know that he is likely to sing. Prosecutors have a lot of evidence to lock him up. Maybe, maybe not as to if that happens. He has money, and access to good lawyers. It is unlikely that any prosecutor at this point is going to cut a deal with Epstein given how charitable his first deal was.

Tim O'Brien made an interesting point on the Laurence O'Donnell show tonight. Not much is known about how he came to fund his company. He certainly has a lot of assets, and a lot of cash, but only one customer seems to be publicly known, Les Wexner, who owns a vast portfolio of clothing lines.
It is also curious that Robert Barr has recused himself from this case. His stated reason is that he joined a firm that worked for Epstein at one time. Barr himself did no legal work for Epstein. Interesting as to when and when not Barr decides to recuse himself. Donald Barr, Bill's dad, did hire Epstein to teach math at a private prep school before Epstein started his career in finance.
Why would Barr state the nebulous professional reason for recusal, but not the personal connection?

Acosta must testify before Congress about this. Given the nature of the crimes, I cannot see why the Senate would sit on the sidelines here.

not really sure that guy is credible

Epstein is super rich, so let's not assume he's going to prison for the remainder of his natural born life. Super rich people get different justice. We have already seen this with Epstein. Sure, public attention is whipped up, but years from now as this case drags along through the appeals process the super rich always get better justice unless they run out of money.
Executive Order Blocking the Property of Persons Involved in Serious Human Rights Abuse or Corruption
LAW & JUSTICE

Issued on: December 21, 2017

I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, find that the prevalence and severity of human rights abuse and corruption that have their source, in whole or in substantial part, outside the United States, such as those committed or directed by persons listed in the Annex to this order, have reached such scope and gravity that they threaten the stability of international political and economic systems. Human rights abuse and corruption undermine the values that form an essential foundation of stable, secure, and functioning societies; have devastating impacts on individuals; weaken democratic institutions; degrade the rule of law; perpetuate violent conflicts; facilitate the activities of dangerous persons; and undermine economic markets. The United States seeks to impose tangible and significant consequences on those who commit serious human rights abuse or engage in corruption, as well as to protect the financial system of the United States from abuse by these same persons.

You're gonna be begging for a wall.
