ESPN bias on Iowa is just unbelievable!!

Their new power ranking comment on Iowa...
"The team that nobody wants to believe in remains unbeaten after a 28-20 victory over Nebraska, the first unbeaten season at Iowa in 93 years." this is getting really annoying.... maybe the state of Iowa should file a lawsuit against ESPN on the discrimination...

You are looking for disrespect. This is simply a "little engine that could" comment. Look at how many people picked Nebby despite the Hawks much better record. The author of that comment is simply saying the Hawks keep winning even though a lot of folks don't believe in them.

A lawsuit for discrimination? o_O

It's not just ESPN. After the Vikings game yesterday FOX had some college football round table show where they discussed the CFP and Jason Whitlock (who has to be pushing 400 pounds) said even if Iowa beats Mich St this weekend he still wouldn't put them in because he doesn't think they're very good. I think he had Iowa 8th. Also said he didn't think Iowa could beat the next tier of teams like Stanford. Yes the same Stanford that scored 6 points against jNW then a couple weeks later Iowa, riddled with injuries, dismantled jNW on the same field. IMO after watching Stanford/ND, Iowa would run for 300 yards against Stanford. They were soft in the front 7.

Just keep winning baby!

I don't want to start yet ANOTHER thread on this subject, so I will start a sub-thread:

ESPN BIAS AGAINST IOWA AND THE BIG 10?

The common theme seems to be that ESPN, the most powerful network in sports, has issued a decree to all of its sports reporters that it is in the best interests of ESPN that Iowa and the Big 10 be discredited at every possible turn. This is a business decision that this greedy organization has made so they will somehow make more money.

I have said that the Big 10 schools are in some of the most populated states in the country and their teams have large national fan bases. I ask why a sports network that relies on viewers would intentionally try to harm the Big 10?

I believe that there are some reporters that are not convinced that Iowa is Top 5 material - an opinion that I believe to be fair and reasonable. I don't agree, but I don't think anyone is "out to get us".

Could someone please explain why they believe that ESPN has conspired to discredit Iowa and how that helps them? Please don't use examples of this so-called disrespect - I am hoping to learn the underlying reason for it.

Thank you.:)

We have a lot of fans that look to be offended. We by now should be numbed to it. Not like the narrative has changed the last 6 weeks.

Unless the win and we're in scenerio somehow comes off the table (I just don't see it - but I guarantee some idiot will say Stanford as a P12 champ deserves it more than Iowa does), I don't know why anybody truly needs to look into any opinion piece on who deserves what.

Here's the irony. Say Iowa wins Saturday. EVERY pundit across the board will say Iowa gets crushed in their semifinal. Every damn one of them.

I love it that Iowa keeps winning so the national media has to keep talking about them. This team has taught me who knows what they are talking about and who are blowhard idiots. Guys like Jason Whitlock have given me a reason to never consume anything they ever put out ever again. For him to say that Iowa doesn't deserve a spot even if we beat Sparty, then to say that Stanford deserves a spot if they win the PAC12 is asinine. I've watched Stanford a few times this season and I don't get the love fest. They are a flawed team which is why they have lost 2 games and narrowly escaped a 3rd. Whereas Iowa hasn't trailed in the 4th quarter ALL SEASON.

All you have to do is look at Northwestern in the poles and look where they have Stanford. does that make sense? If it does it just show your and there bias or lack of respect towards the teams that Northwestern and Iowa have beat.

Iowa is not good, any team that plays Northern Illinois and Northern Iowa are not good......I actually heard this on a call in show yesterday. It's becoming comical at this point, people are just blurting worthless crap out. Best part is that if Iowa wins Saturday they're in and nobody can do anything about it.

This season proves that we're finally on the right track with the playoffs. I think we'll eventually be at an 8-team playoff (and I think that's the right number), but look at Iowa this year. They were widely picked to finish 4th in their division. They had no poll votes to start the season. They won early, but not necessarily super-impressively. Their B1G schedule did not include several of the top teams.

....and yet, here we are months later and it simply doesn't matter what all the talking heads have said or thought. An Iowa team with no pre-season mojo and no real growth of public sentiment has continued to rise up the ranks and will be part of the playoffs if they win the league. This shows all the P5 teams that it doesn't matter who you are - if you take care of all your own business, you will have a chance to prove it on the field in the end.

Did I hear KF at the post game interview right? Did he say "I really don't know how good we are"?
Was that being sarcastic or was his pessimistic side showing again?
Maybe I'm imagining that...i cant remember. All I know is if he was serious, I can see why nobody believes in us, especially if coach doesn't.

I wouldn't read it that way. I'd read it more as in him not thinking the team has hit their ceiling yet.

Yesterday fox did a rundown of the playoffs selection, who they thought were in. Out of like 10 of them only 1 or 2 had iowa at the 4 spot. The rest were just thinking msu is going to destroy us in the title game. It's OK by me what they think, but I think it's funny that we beat the team that they lost to and we also have similar stats to the same competition, yet they are gonna destroy us. Whatever man....would like so much to prove those a holes wrong.

I saw that show. Whitlock is a moron. He said he didn't have Iowa in his top 8 right now. When asked about Iowa's win over Northwestern he says that cant count as a quality win because Northwestern looked bad when they played Ball State. What?
