ESPN Fires Samantha Ponder and RGIII

I liked RG3s tweets on the Olympics. I thought he was fine as a broadcaster.

I didn't really watch a ton with Sam Ponder but thought she was good too.

Still looks like they said the wrong thing at ESPN. There are much worse on-air "talents" that kept their jobs in my opinion.

Ponder is hot, but wasn’t good at her actual job. So, she wound up just being your standard easy to look at on air talent who didn’t bring much substance. This is standard cost cutting. Nothing more.
On what are you basing the, "wasn't good at her job" comment? Any personal observations or just parroting social media bs?

They are paying out RGIII’s full deal with two years left on his contract.

Yep, they are clearing out costs on their books. They did this a few months ago with guys like Jay Williams and Keyshawn Jackson, too. Contracts are contracts and have to be honored, but they are looking years down the road.

They wanted them gone. They could have done this with any of TV personnel.

It’s not like 2019-2020 when they sacked reporters based on contract expiration.

This was 100% politically motivated. Sam Ponder spoke out against Men competing against women. That doesn't fit Disney's agenda. They waited till three weeks before the season?

They saved zero money. How is it cost saving when you save zero money?

They’re all laughing at him.
He should be laughed at. When people think of the 1980s football. They think of Walter Peyton, Lawrence Taylor, Ronnie Lott and Mike Singletary types. and in the 60s and 70s, toothless badasses. Not to mention, every QB passing record gets crushed like every 5 years. WTF is he even talking about man?

This guy was right.

There was an ESPN Bet ad where they referred to their SC anchors and reporters as “personalities.”

I feel bad for the Bob Leys and Charlie Steiners for what it’s become.
