ESPN No Respect, Shocker

Does anyone actually care about these hypothetical ESPN things? They don't mean anything, have no basis in reality, and have no impact on games. They only exist to fill time and so the flapping gums on their network have something to fake argue about.

The Tigers claimed the SEC tournament title on Sunday with a 20-point win over Tennessee, elevating themselves to "sleeper" status entering the NCAA tournament. Then the Tigers barely escaped in the final seconds against New Mexico State (69 percent clip inside the arc) with a one-point victory in the first round on Friday, halting some of the chatter about a team that forced 16 turnovers but nearly squandered the win.

How did this get auburn seeded higher?

Auburn and Villanova haven't earned that much respect, unless you want to consider the past few years for Villanova. ALWAYS an east coast bias in the NCAA tournament.

So after 1 win in the tourney you expect to gain a lot of respect? Everyone saw how we finished the regular season. It cannot be erased.

Where did i say "a lot of respect?" Two weeks ago we were being talked about as a potential 5/6 seed, and yes, we finished poorly. We basically won a road game in the tourney against a 7 seed Cincy team that many said was under seeded (eg should have been a 5 or 6 seed). Why did Minnesota get put so far ahead of us, they basically won a pseudo home game, as an example.

I was not asking for the moon here, but maybe a 7 seed?

I'm failing to see what's wrong with this? We're higher than we were originally seeded, and clearly one of the lower tier teams in the tournament. What am I missing?

Lower tier? we are one of the bottom four left. I just thought that seemed extreme, see my Minnesota example above. There are other examples as well.. oklahoma, baylor, ohio state...

We got as much respect (and I say that loosely) as Florida. Florida tied with Mich right now 5:00 to go first half. What did the Gators do to upset ESPN?

So if we're one of the bottom 4 left, why is it so hard to believe where they reseeded us? I would also take all those teams head to head vs Iowa.

We have to keep in mind that ESPN is in the the sports business, and the business right now is March Madness. They have to come up with stuff to write about. Some of it will be "meh". I'm just excited that the Hawks are playing on Sunday. GO IOWA!

They're not dumb....they know Iowa has a lot of fans and they're looking for clicks and they know they can get those by riling up just 1 Iowa fan who's going to spread the word, such as this post.

Iowa fans are snowflakes. Some are, anyway. And, I hate the snowflake reference, but it seemed appropriate here.

You earn respect. Go earn it.

Very true, that is why they play the games. I see Vegas has Tennessee only favored by 8. I would think the line would have been higher.

Guess we just disagree, I thought our win over Cincy on the road was impressive. Anyway, we gave UTenn everything they could handle and proved we were far better than a ten seed IMO. On to next year.
