Random thoughts so far.

I know folks are knocking the Indiana and the SMU picks, and using the results to support the argument of leaving out the Cinderella stories. Im not sure how much of it is an active effort to load up the playoffs with the SEC vs just thinking bluebloods should get the bids vs a potential Cinderella.

If Clemson had been thoroughly stomped, it would definitely support the narrative that the ACC is not really a Power 4. And the counter to all that is how badly UT got stomped by OSU. That was very fun to watch.

I fully expected pro SEC crowd to use the losers of the first round as a reason that a 3 loss Bama or Ole Miss needed in.

(edited) Im expecting ASU / Boise to get rolled by Tex / Penn State, I bet that specific auto bid will also be criticized (that may be fair).

I do hope the committee modifies the logic/process next year. But "highest ranked" or "best teams" or other is an interesting debate. Wish preseason rankings are no longer used as a "we beat a X ranked team, you didn't beat any of them" when the preseason ranking skews that argument. But that ain't going anywhere.

Overall, I lied, Im totally watching the games and do like it. Just wish FSU wasn't such a shit show and could participate....

I thought the games came down to one common thing. Home teams rolled.

In hindsight, I wonder if they had been at neutral sites how they'd have turned out. Now, my thinking is say Indiana-Notre Dame at say Soldier Field, or OSU-Tennessee at say Charlotte NC, SMU-PSU at say Giants Stadium, UT-Clemson at Nashville...that kind of thing. Keep them outdoors if the higher seed plays outdoors, reasonably close by to the higher seed to keep the weather element advantage there for them - but not on campus.

I know something like that is probably impossible to pull off, but if they had a near year to plan for all programs and sites (with a list of potential sites to choose from)...I do believe it could be doable.

Why do people keep pushing for a neutral game site for these games. Eff that.
