Iowa-Nebraska resonates nationally, but not how the Huskers envisioned.

I think the Big 10 should realign their teams.

We could call this the Big Ten East
Michigan
Michigan State
Nebraska
Wisconsin
Ohio State
Penn State
Northwestern

Then in the other Division it will be:
Iowa
Illinois
Indiana
Minnesota
Maryland
Rutgers
Purdue

We will call that one the Big 12 North.

1995 is not walking through that door bitches.

Michigan

Michigan state

Northwetern’

Ohio state

Penn state

nebraska

Wisconsin

I really hope Iowa & company use those Nebraska comments every single time they take the field vs Nebraska. It was bush league for Eichhorst to call out Iowa like that. If he wanted to fire Bo Pelini, then fire him. I don't care, but to take a jab at Iowa shows his true colors.

But he said nice things before he trashed us.

“I have great respect for Iowa,” he said. “It is a wonderful institution and a great football program. But in the final analysis, their record was where it was, and our record was where it was.”

I think this quote, and Iowa fans making such a big deal out of it, is nothing more than people feigning outrage. It wasn't really offensive at all. Nebraska just beat a team that was barely over .500. That in and of itself, shouldn't have saved Pelini.

You take those comments out of context. Eichorst was asked if winning/losing the Iowa game was a factor in the Pelini decision. Like it or not, Iowa was not a great team last year and did not have a factor in the decision on Pelini....he was toast either way, and rightfully so.

The way he got beat by Iowa in 2013 coupled by his postgame actions should have been a factor but unfortunately weren't.

Nah it very much so weighed on the decision. But I took it as a compliment. He was essentially saying 'we should have lost to Iowa (again), even if they were an average team. We needed an "all-time" comeback to win'....

That's what he was saying and he was right.......but I also thank him for supplying us with some motivation to get better and go on this run we're on. ;)

Probably not the smartest thing to say but taken in context, nothing terribly objectionable. In fact, he probably did Iowa a huge favor by forcing Ferentz to take a long hard look in the mirror.

Isn't it more than just the comments regarding the firing of Pellini, and evaluating the win last year against Iowa? Wasn't there something about "...Not wanting to be Iowa?"

I have to agree. I'm not defending his comments, but I do see his point. A win over an 11-0 Iowa team on the road would obviously be huge; over a near-.500 Iowa team, though, not too much to write home to Mom about. The comeback was nice, but giving up that kind of lead to a mediocre team in the first place wasn't exactly anything to be proud of.

I'm not saying they should or shouldn't have fired Pelini, but I can understand why that one win at Iowa wouldn't have been a job-saver. All of that said, though, if his quote makes for some quality bulletin board material for the Hawks, I'm alright with that. . . .
