I posted a response to a post from my good friend Kwoodhawk and it got me thinking, are expectations @Iowa too high given the current environment?
Here was my original response, part of the What is Missing thread:
Most would not be fans of Iowa Wrestling if not for extremely high and unrealistic expectations[/B]--this is Iowa Wrestling[/B]. This is a given.
IF you told me 8 different schools would crown a Big 10 Champ yesterday and Iowa would not be one of them, I'd have said you were crazy.
IF you told me in the final 8 matches on Sunday of the Big 10 Championship that Iowa would secure ONE take-down, I'd have said you were crazy.
IF you would have told me the Nationally #1 rated recruiting class committed to the University of Iowa 5 years ago and out of that class there would be ZERO Big Ten Champions, I'd have said you were crazy.
Call me crazy. I expect more, not moore of the same.
------
Considering how elated oh state was after the tie yesterday maybe we are all more worked up than we should be. The devils in the details as I pointed out some truly remarkable stats above. So, I'm still not convinced our concerns are without merit.
