Fat Bert taunting

Bunch of Nancy's on here whining about a coach having a little fun and trying to get his team an edge. Keep clutching your pearls while illinois climbs ahead of us in the conference

Nah. Bert proving to be a classless a$$.

The substitutions are borderline, but that taunting was way over the top. He did it multiple times and held it out there while staring at the South Carolina team.... While on their side of the field.

Eff that guy

Who wouldn't when Bielema is allowed to openly commit unsportsmanlike conduct without a penalty? That's BS. The refs should have gotten in BB's face, flagged him, and warned him he'd be tossed if he did anything like it again.

Illinois is going to win, and that's BS too. BB is an embarrassment to college football.
Lol NO

I love bielema...
Would take him in a minute.

I don't care what he does off the field or behind the scenes. He plays to win.

Something of a foreign concept with the current aging Iowa HC.

I guess some Hawk fans would rather lose gracefully than win football games. And Illinois has already passed Iowa on the depth chart and I suspect next few years it will be a glaring difference.

They do need to fix that substitution rule. I recall when Bielema bitched about the old rule. The intent was to allow the defense the chance to sub personnel if the offense did so, not to wind down the play clock.

Something like the defense has 15 seconds to get player subs in and others off the field or you’re assessed a timeout. And no offensive subs with the play clock at 25 seconds left. If you do then you’re assessed a timeout. That would fix it fast.

I’m not a Bielema fan. I knew a guy who was on that last Rose Bowl team. Let’s just say he didn’t have much nice to say about BB.
I'm not a fan either, but I think it's fairly safe to say that there aren't too many guys out there universally considered to be "nice guys" who have had his coaching accomplishments.

Of course.

The guy is probably just as big of a douche as he was in college. I am not a fan. But I would gladly take him at Iowa. The guy is built for the Midwest/Big Ten football.

During undergrad, I would occasionally run into him at The Airliner. He was always nice and would chat. He may not be a stoic competitor, but he’s a competitor.

There’s no accounting for taste.

I would be surprised if the rule doesn't get overhauled in the offseason.

He's been successful for the most part, but there are other options out there for a good coach without hiring a big fat slob. How in the hell does he teach discipline to his players when he has none personally. I guess he doesn't.
Players don’t commit to a program because the HC has an acceptable BMI.

In the early 2000’s Wisconsin was hosting Penn State and if was the year they had that stupid rule where a kickoff out of bounds was only a 5 yard penalty and a 15 second run-off. Wisconsin scored with something like 42 seconds left in the first half, so Bert then had his kicker purposely shank the kickoff out of bounds three consecutive times - resulting in the end of the half. Bielema was laughing hysterically while Joe Pa was furious. The ABC cameraman followed Joe Pa on his way to the locker room, and a furious Paterno snapped at the camera and yelled, “Get outta here!” In that east coast accent. It was comedy gold.

Kirk would have written something on that mysterious recipe card…. & put in a new piece of chewing gum.

I know from a good source what hes writing. It's notes on what to say in his postgame news conference. But you say, he always says the same things. You know, there are different ways to say "that's football"

I was a student manager during 2 of Bret’s years at Iowa. I guess I have a different opinion, one of the nicest, most genuine guys I got to know.
