For the last 15 years a group of us older guys (we are in our early 70's) travel from around the country to watch the Hawks in Iowa City. This year we are thinking of going to the game in Minnesota but one of the guys "thinks" that Minnesota requires one to buy a ticket to a second game in order to get an Iowa ticket. Does anyone know if this is true ? And if true - is there a way around it like buying through a Minn. Alum or .... Any help/thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you.

We have been up to the new Minnesota stadium twice and have only had to buy the one game. Maybe it's different if you go through the U of M directly.

In the past rodents have required a 2-3 game package for non season tix for the iowa game. For 2016 who knows.

Roms aren't an issue for this game (or almost every game) unless you absolutely need to be within X distance of the stadium. Tickets aren't an issue at any game, and due most colleges pricing them out of affordability for average income people, I don't see this changing. This has resulted is less tickets sold, but not necessarily more tickets available on the secondary markets (less sold = less available to scalpers and Stub Hub). But likely more tickets available directly from the Universities.

Having said this, rooms In Indy were expensive, part of this being our fault as we had 6 going and I usually plan way, way ahead, but we did this fairly last minute. Given game time, we still could have stayed 90 minutes away and had no issues. Even the Rose Bowl prices declined by game time, and declined significantly.

Early they have made you do the buy multiple games. As the game got closer they have released single game tickets.

Been to 3 games in Minnesota and have never had to buy a ticket to another game. One time we bought through Iowa but the other 2 times were directly from the UM.

I also don't think Iowa has been selling out their visiting allotment to a lot of games recently, so you should check with the UI ticket office first. You might just get lucky, and would have the added bonus of being surrounded by other Iowa fans.
