FBI alerted about a group of Middle Eastern men asking about Missouri dam

Coming off the heels of yesterday's thread about the strange mobile phone purchases in Missouri Walmarts, there's this story today.

A group of Middle Eastern men asking about Bagnell dam, and if they could rent a boat to tour it, etc.

Again, it could be legit... but I'm glad the FBI is on to the POTENTIAL stuff going on in Missouri.

Sounds a little too obvious, but I'm sure the FBI will check it out and Mizzou authorities will be on high alert.

Interesting side note: this is the name featured in the movie "the fugitive" where Harrison ford's character jumps off it to elude capture.

Crap is happening in Iowa as well - ME men approached an armory half a dozen times and wouldn't show ID and tried to gain access. Now have PD sitting at gate.

Call in Chief Deputy U.S. Marshall Sam Girard. He'll kick some #ss if he hasn't retired by now.

One more attack on U.S. soil and Obama should resign he has done nothing to prevent this and has been in denial since day one.

His muslim upbringing comes into question.

One more major attack on US soil or a grand attack in Europe and Trump will be able to moon walk to the Oval Office.

If you happened to look middle eastern, wouldn't you troll the crap out of everyone? I need the Austrians to do something bad again so I can play the Nazi card. Maybe I could pass for Danish if I didn't break out in song.

This country is on the verge of going crazy racist. Loons like Donald Trump and Ted Cruz are stoking the embers into flames.

Talk about trolling. Spin city from middle east men to bashing GOP POTUS candidates. Hillary should hire you to help run her campaign. That is not a compliment.

Not trolling at all. We are rapidly going towards a dystopia of suspicion cast upon everyone who looks different than the majority. It is not helpful, or presidential to whip up fear. Awareness is great, but we cannot fight terrorism by fearing every person who looks like they originated from the Middle East.
I will always believe that a lot of this fear mongering comes from the fact that the majority will not be the majority in a few decades.

We know that almost ever major terrorist attack is committed by people from the Middle East.

We know that people who appear Middle Eastern have been doing strange things in Missouri.

Some of us in this thread are saying we are glad the FBI is aware of it. Some of us in this thread are saying it might be all a big coincidence.

You show up to call us racists.

Is that not an accurate summary?

We SHOULD be profiling, though. ISIS threatens us. Attacks are happening. There's absolutely nothing wrong with being over protective of our major structures and looking into what can be deemed as suspicious activity (asking for a boat to view a giant dam is suspicious) by people whose appearance fits the look of your average ISIS member. "If you get your feelings hurt, sorry. Please bear with us as we deal with this issue. It's for your own safety."

If I asked to view the underpinning of Yankees Stadium a couple days before opening day, I should be looked upon with suspicion. Period.

So effing naive.

First, an attack on Bagnell wouldn't do much down stream, except take out Osage National, and a bunch of Hillbilly land. It would piss off a lot of homeowners on the lake, and severely cripple Missouri tourism, and the party cove until the dam could be rebuilt, which needs to be done anyway.

Second, getting a boat tour wouldn't get them close enough to do anything. Boats are restricted several meters away from the dam. They could probably shoot some rockets at it from Beavers, or something, but the this whole idea of taking out Bagnell seems pretty ludicrous.

Politics is a heavy swinging pendulum of left/right that never stops in the middle but quickly passes it by as it elevates until it reaches its peak on one side before shifting and swinging back to the other. Right now the Dems are nearing their peak (if they haven't hit it all ready) as they continue to push further and further on ridiculous things like 'safe space', the inability to call terrorism a mostly Islamic problem, their own racism of low expectations, topped off with a 'boy who cried bigot' strategy of squashing constructive discourse. All of this has lead many liberals, (Maher, Harris, others) to coin many of their brothers as 'the regressive left' and quite frankly that term is pretty fitting for many who have 'jumped the shark' on actual liberal ideology.

Hillary might win in 16' but the tea leaves are showing an eventual turn back to the hard right is in our future. Trump is a symptom of what i typed above as much of his support isn't from the tea-party, it isn't from the establishment, it isn't from libertarians...none of those groups really. Much of his support is coming from a group of lean right independents that have decided they have had enough from the now prominent voice of the 'regressive leftist'.

Yeah I don't get the hate of basic profiling in an effort to thwart major type attacks. Seems like good police work to me.

unIowa's post in response to Lucas is one of the best I've read on this board. of course, I agree with it, but in terms of putting my feelings into words, that's spot on.
