Iowa WBB is headed to sunny Cancun over Thanksgiving:
For the women’s event, set for Nov. 28-30 and streamed on FloHoops, the Mayan Division will be a three-game round robin featuring Providence, San Diego State, VCU and Wisconsin. The Riviera Division teams get two games apiece; set to take the court are BYU, Idaho State, Iowa, Rhode Island, Rice and Vermont.
Idaho State went 11-19 last year. Rhode Island went 21-14. Vermont went 25-12 and lost to Saint Louis in the NIT semis. Rice went 19-15 last year. BYU finished 16-17 last season.
Providence went 13-21 last season. San Diego State finished 22-13. VCU went 26-6 but lost to Villanova in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Wisconsin went 15-17 and lost to Iowa twice last year.
Not fully clear yet what those teams are losing/returning ahead of 2024-25, but on paper Iowa should be favored to do well at this event.
