Filip: 92% Shooting. Player of the Game. Again. Payton breaks out with 24, PMac with 20

Sandfort cooled from 3 but I loved how he took the ball to the rim. He's been able to do that against these smaller schools but I haven't seen the same success against big boys.

I hope this is the start of something good for him, but have to admit, his form is screwed up from three. This is the first game I've seen good views from behind on his jumper. Even the two makes when he shot the jumper his body turned completely side ways while he was shooting. He landed with his whole body facing 90 degrees to the left of being facing the basket. In truth I don't know if thats how he's always been shooting, but that would be REALLY bad form for a jump shooter to duplicate consistently with.

Fran on the postgame radio show, on Filip: They had no answer for him. If you can establish the low post like that, it opens everything else up.

Fran on the postgame radio show, on Payton: l love that kid. He's not a good player. He's a great player. He's a complete player. I loved how his teammates responded to him (his success tonight).

Regarding Iowa's defense: Fran pointed out that SE MO ST had 41 misses and only got 7 of them back (17%).

Wasn’t there a fan on here who claimed that Rebraca wasn’t really a starting level Big Ten player? Haven’t heard much lately. 😏😎

It may be, but weren't a couple of those on breaks where he was dribbling up the court and shot? Also, at least 2 of those were down and came out.

Rebraca and Sandfort were obviously great, but I really thought PMac turned the game into a blowout and really played well. He let the game come to him and didn’t shy from shooting the 3. The coast to coast was a thing of beauty, looked like Keegan. Then he mixed in a couple short jumpers. If we are going to have a good year, we need that from him every game.

I'm just talking abut the two he MADE. The form looked bad, and least when you realize that shooting the three is a lot like free throws. Its muscle memory and repetition, and the way he shot those isn't repeatable for a high level of success. He's coming off going 2 for 20. As I said, I don't know if thats the same as he shot it last year, but that doesn't look right.
