Stieber in 3. Dake in 2. Taylor in 2. Taylor techs both matches. I can see the Dake matches being 6-4 7-5 ish matches .

WHAT?! How many weeks/months and events does it take to determine the national team? I thought we were done with this never-ending process, but no, it goes on and on. USA Wrestling has really dragged this out, and reduced my interest.

Don't worry, a multi millionaire basketball coach (me!) will keep you up to date!!!

;)

Really, that’s crazy. It gives us wrestling fans something to look forward to every week. Instead of one big week and months of nothing.

I am even more excited for Dake and Valencia than I was for Gilman and Fix. Dake is just too tough though imo. I'm hoping to see 3 matches in that one.

Very excited about this matchup. I also think the Stieber/McKenna series could be very good similar to Gilman/Fix. You have a senior world champ against a guy with multiple age level medals.

I hope Zahid let's the fur fly. Dake will counter him, but I'll bet he gets a couple takedowns. I'm guessing the second match will be a controlled defensive win for Dake, but a guy can hope right?

Striebler/Mckenna see each other quite a bit so I'm tempering my expectations on that match. If Striebler doesn't have any brain farts he should handle Mckenna.

If I was going to bet on it I'd say the same thing, but I'm hoping Zahid goes for it. The way he took it to Ringer makes me think he can make it a great series.

Zahid has really figured out that his best bet to win is non-stop offense. You can watch his matches with Hall as a great example. Last year he wrestled a slower pace. This year in both matches he was constantly attacking.

I think he’ll be on constant attack against Dake. Dake has amazing defensive ability, but that is also Mark Hall’s strength, so Zahid is used to it. I’ll take Dake in 2 close bouts. But the 86kg field is on notice for 2020. Taylor is far from a lock.

It's tough to bet against kid dynamite

Good point on Zahid and Mark Hall crab. How do you think that match goes in freestyle?

I think I actually like McKenna more than Stieber in Freestyle. With Stiebers style he can beat anybody, but also get beat by a lot of guys. McKenna is solid all around with a mean gut. JR Silver, and U23 Bronze. Stiebers World Title came at 61kg in an olympic year.

As for the others, I'll take Dake in some exciting matches and Taylor wins easily over Reenan.

When are the true third matches? Did they have some in Lincoln? I thought a couple of our HWC members were in some as well as Ramos.

Zahid vs Dake is going to worth the price of admission/subscription alone. Can’t wait.
I'm very excited as well but I really don't think it will be as close as many think. The score may be close but I figure on Dake being in control from cradle to grave.

Stieber over McKenna 2 of 3 decisions
Taylor over Reenan (prob 2 TF's)
Dake over Zahid 2 straight decisions

I wish he was more likeable. He's a hell of a wrestler and it's hard not to root for him, but man can he be a douche.

No problems for me with Dake. He was very complimentary toward the CHA crowd at the Gold Cup. Plus I've always liked the fact that he took some of the luster off the the unicorn.

I agree about Dake. He's become one of my favorites to watch the past couple years, but when he's losing he tends to become a bit of a cry baby.

Dake chest wrap > Zahid double leg. As good as Zahid is, this is a match up problem for him. Zahid is a great story but many have quickly forgotten how Dake destroyed everyone in the World Cup. All of the men's matches will be 2-0 just like Lincoln and that is not a knock on any of the challengers. Our #1 guys are just that good.

You make some valid points. He's much more tolerable when he's winning, and he wins a lot obviously.
IMHO, Dake used to gas out back in the folkstyle days and was very defensive; yes he won, but the matches were a bit slow against better competition. But he has clearly fixed those issues.

He also barely bear Dierenger in the US Open finals. Zahid smashed Dierenger.

Agree on the observation re: matches with Hall. Didn't let him breath (not in the 2018 finals, at least).

Gray's matches won't make it to the second period.

Stieber over McKenna 2-0. Second match is decided by 2 or less points.

Dake over Valencia 2-0. First match scores over 12.5 points (unless Dake TF him). Second match Dake beats by three or less.

Taylor TF X2

Don't know much about the other wrestlers competing to make a guess.

Some results so far:

Stieber over McKenna 8-8, a 4 the deciding factor in criteria.
Miracle over Velte 4-2
Clodgo over Watters 4-2
Dake over Valencia 4-0

Gray vs Bullock up right now, Taylor vs Reenan next.
