Farter Crappel with a TF over Mitchell McKee 15-5...great match by him. Was aggressive the whole time against a very freestyle savvy dude
Haha! I watched it live. Nice win indeed!. McKee looked like he had a bum foot however. Not trying to take away from Farter I promise

Damn...Evan Wick Defaulted against Clingenpeel; would have liked to have seen that.

Hey Willie...here is the example of the subtle troll FM is so good at
Thanks for noticing Chief. And congratulations to Mr Teasdale. But I do have an honest question. Given that freestyle pins are typically so quick, how is a 20s or so flounder not get called a pin? Is there some detail in the rule I'm missing?

Not at all...I said in the Teasdale thread that I thought it was a pin.

ISU getting some good recruits. No excuses if those incoming recruits don't perform - they have talent. Wouldn't mind having a few of them in the Iowa room.

There were a lot of talented kids at the tournament and some crazy brackets. There were also several of top freestyle wrestlers absent. Like Lee, Fix, Yianni, Steveson and I am sure a few more. I believe there is a Olympic training camp at the OTC. I wonder if the kids would want to compete at Fargo if the timing of the camp were different or they have bigger goals and it is not a big deal. As a fan it would be exciting to see these kids compete in some already crazy brackets.

I am confused about this freestyle stuff, each state has kids that go to fargo and if they win it is considered a national championship, a Pennsylvania kid wins, but could have been pinned(I didn't see it can't make the call), but the only one whinning about it on here is a Pennsylvania guy.i guess I just don't understand how this makes sense.or I might be confused about flimsy materials origins.

Looks like Mr. Happel had a pretty fair Freestyle tournament. He got handled by the Champ a bit (on the scoreboard anyway - not sure how the match went), but it appears he throttled everybody else.

Yea...got handled for sure by Lee. Wasn't a TD to a leglace type of deal.

Carter wrestled well...loved the aggression and intensity.

Just trying to get after us...He chose Iowa so state loyalty no longer matters, even if he's winning one for them.

It probably is a little lucky to not get pinned when your on your back in freestyle. I have seen pins called very quickly in that style. Anyone can get stuck! Luck aside he did do a great job of competing to come back and get into the match!

Carter had an outstanding tournament.
----

Carter had a very good tournament, but I'm still not convinced he's going to be Iowa's answer at 141#. He beat Degen (was #14 ranked by Intermat) by 16-15 and lost to PSU bound Lee by TF.

I know it's FS, it's too early to accurately predict anything and I'd love to see Happel become a star after a year or two in the Iowa room. Iowa's been struggling at 141# for several years now, and it would be nice to see better results at this weight.

I'll say this...they call things much more carefully in the finals. For example, we rarely saw passivity in the earlier rounds but they were calling it quick in the semis and finals

Pleasantly surprised by Carter's performance, 138 was a stacked weight class. This was by far the best I've seen him wrestle.
