For us to be competitive against MSU we must come out ready and play hard the first 5 minutes, not give them confidence and dig a hole we can't recover from!

I will be happy if Luka hasn't picked up any fouls in the first 5 min.
We should just wait and sub him in at the under 16 timeout.
At MSU Luka will have 2 fouls before the 10 minute mark of the first half if he breathes.
I agree they will shaft LG on fouls, just what happens in EL. Also agree with op have to play with a lot of energy in the first 5 minutes to avoid blow out. It will be a very tough game in EL with all the challenges (hacking/holding defense, refs, crowd, etc.).

All 40 minutes matter equally. I’ve seen teams come out and get up 10-15 early and then the other team settles in and erases it and we lose by 20 anyway. Just have to compete for 40 minutes and weather the runs and not panic and take quick shots when things get sideways. Lots of Franisms there.
unfortunately we're probably down 6-10 already if we do. ( I realize your teasing here.) Luka usually comes out firing, so hopefully he doesn't get the early cheap ones.
It will be interesting to see how Joe T and Bakari do against MSU's guards. Both should be able to hold their own athletically and play better D than we have seen in the past. MSU will mug Garza and smother Wieskamp, so it will come down to a couple of guys being able to capitalize on some open looks. I could see this going like the Purdue game if Iowa tries to go up and down with MSU.
