Flo has their Olympic credentials pulled by USOC

So, the reason FLO lost their Olympic credentials is because it posted videos of the Olympic Trials, which the USOC considers infractions, stating NBCUniversal owns them.

FLO responds by saying they didn't post anything improper, only Youtube videos, which are "designed to be shared."

Is that basically it? If so, it sounds like some clarification is needed regarding videos on Youtube, and rights to show them. Has technology simply gotten ahead of the legal system?

Well you acted as though locating youtube videos on our site was some sort of smoking gun, when that couldn't be further from the truth.

This is a discussion on why you got your creds pulled. Then it devolved into a You Tube lesson. Just saying that they could have mistakenly thought a pay site is using their work for profit or to generate clicks. If it's that simple, then this should be easily clarified. Like I said above, can't believe it happened without some sort of adjudication process.

In my simple mind it seems like the USOC taking steps to satisfy NBC who pays a boatload of $ for Olympic coverage. Whether Flo did anything wrong or not I'm guessing the USOC is willing to do whatever is necessary (right or wrong) to preserve that relationship. The USOC is a political engine and doesn't run on fairness.

CP situation sucks. I don't like that Flo is being punished for trying to grow the sport. I'm from Chicago(# 1 croked city in US)so to me this seems like a classic case of someone high up in the USOC with a hurt butt because he didn't get his palm greased and is trying to set an example. You guys do a great job, keep it up.

This is my thought. USOC doesn't give a crap about sports. They care about power and each individual enriching themselves.

I would, however, like to see an explanation from FLO about what has happened. The YouTube explanation puts an end to that argument, some I'm curious as to the real reason.

I don't think that is very accurate. You've been well-received by most. There has been some ribbing on a few articles / predictions, and you probably felt slighted being part of Flo with the whole Stroker/Willie attention whoring, but overall far tamer than what's witnessed at the mat or going against the grain at some of the other sites.

Maybe having credentials yanked will be a positive. Rio has all the makings of a dumpster fire right now.

Hearing that it wasn't Flowrestling but another sport in the Flo system that offended the pinche USOC

Interesting. Too bad no one from Flo hangs to around here to fill us in.

They have 12 sports at Flo(?) total. I'm sure that Flowrestling doesn't want to point the finger...but they also don't want to take the blame

Is this a done deal, or is Flo trying to resolve the issue or prove their innocence? In your opinion, do you think Flo will eventually get credentials for Rio? F the USOC.

Also, it would be nice if Flo could get the big guns in wrestling to contact the USOC and fight for flowrestling to get credentials i.e. Gable, Cael, Brands, John Smith, etc.

It would be refreshing to see some admission of guilt by the flo boys. Seems like they are always on the defensive and can do no wrong.

Actually a simple, "This has nothing to do with Flo Wrestling but I'm not at liberty to go into detail at this point," would have explained a lot by saying little, imo.

Maybe, but we are still going to speculate and we did so with the videos that were linked via Youtube.

Willie basically confirmed what was going on. Seems a very plausible and simple to understand explanation. NBC wields a lot of power when it comes to Olympic sports, and are likely to be flexing some muscle when it comes to new ways of viewing which are threatening their broadcast market. I would imagine these types of situations are playing out across all sorts of categories of viewing products right now, but we are just focused on this because it's wrestling.

when vaisforlovers was a poster here and not a big shot know it all for flo he always claimed to be an iowa fan,but it was easy to be a fan win you are winning every year. jammez if it's so hard to talk to us idiots don't bother, just take a couple of Xanax and go to bed.

Maybe the USOC will want Flo back to help coverage. $445,000 of Olympic television equipment was stolen in Rio last Friday.

Athletes have been robbed at gun point, and the police don't have enough gas for regular patrols. The flame is already burning in that dumpster.

So, NBC gives each olympic sport coverage one week every 4 years. The USOC tells the people with the best coverage the other 3
years and 51 weeks to stay the hell out of it and let NBC do their thing. They're also the same people (or at least tied to them) that tried to keep wrestling out of the olympics, cut the weightclasses, and are sending our athletes to a dumpster fire... As a wrestling community, this is what we fought for?

TBF, NBC also paid 7.65 BILLION dollars to broadcast the Olympics through 2032, so I'm guessing the other 3 years and 51 weeks don't matter much to the folks that run the IOC.
