What I think Flo needs to realize is that the meltdowns are often caused by Iowa folks (and others) who drop in this time of year when we don't win it to offer us their sage inputs since they have followed (re: went to some duals while at college during the Gable years) Iowa for a long time. The Zakesky thread alone is worth the price in gold especially since the title alone is wrong.
Iowa fans in general are proud of the team because of our tradition but developed unrealistic expectations without knowing the actual nuts and bolts of today's wrestling scene. I bet if you would have asked most tOSU football fans, they were probably unaware that their wrestling team won anything at all last year. This holds true for a lot of other schools. Not at Iowa.
So I think Flo needs to consider the sheer number of:
1)Trolls we get
2)Tournament time posters who just found out PSU has a team
3)Football and basketball people who still think Gable is at the helm; I didn't recognize a lot of handles
4)Opposing fans doing the Schadenfreude thing
5)Sheer volume of posters compared to other boards
6)And yes, spoiled wrestling fans...but most of our regulars weren't throwing stuff out to try and make it stick.
I listened to FRL and they scoffed that it wasn't recruiting. They are wrong. For example, PSU picked up Hall and Manville...one is the best P4P and the other is #1 at his weight...and there is a good chance Manville won't see the lineup for a few years. We got Marinelli. I am proud of the guys we have and our recruits coming in but we need more elite guys like Marinelli.
As for coaching, I think there are issues that TnT need to address...We had two wrestlers in the finals that never attempted a shot and 0 takedowns. We had a very good semi round but didn't finish and this is a theme they need to address.

One thing I liked was Willie said he had a conversation with Marinelli at NCAA's, and asked him what his plans were. He plans to come to Iowa City ASAP and begin training this summer. He also said that he was ready to go if he gets called upon, and that he believed he could AA right NOW.
We saw how much Myles Martin improved just from November to March, and I'm sure he was there in the summer training. I have to think that Marinelli, training in the Iowa room from June-March, will be a completely improved version of the one we see right now, who will make a serious impact.

I agree that it's a careless reading of the wrestling board to think Iowa fans are in "meltdown." I absolutely don't like Brands, but I don't believe more than 10% or 20% of fans on the board actually advocate for a new coach -- I'm in a small minority and I know it. However, that 10% to 20% are the ones who are motivated to start new threads, so you see a LOT of threads that seem to advocate firing Brands or making some other radical change. But if you actually red the entire thread you'll see most fans taking issue with the original post.
I know I mentioned this in another thread and reading through this one thread the majority of people contributing to this thread are the ones who post all year long, not just in March. This board goes absolutely a-wall every March whether Iowa wins a national title or not with fans who have never posted all year. I do not post much, I really enjoy reading this board daily. This week has been overwhelming annoying, and that is coming for someone who traveled all day Sunday from NYC who was board out of my mind and was on the brink of death due to an entire week of destroying my liver. And I still didn't want to read this board!
With all of that said, I enjoy FRL. I enjoy listening to CP and Willie's arguments. Willie isn't as much as an Iowa basher as he gets on here, he just enjoys to stir the pot and it makes for fun drama. I thought today's episode was great and they were right about us next year. I have not been excited for this coming year of Iowa Wrestling in a long time. Are there things we need to work on? Absolutely. But to say we shouldn't be excited for the future is idiotic. We have a lot of thunder power and I hope we can do something with it. No kidding, I see why Iowa fans dislike Willie. I think Smalls must have forgotten some of the studs he's directed to Penn State. Here are D1CW top 50 overall rankings on next years rosters. I used Willie's p4p for the 2016 recruits.

Serious question. Has there ever been such a concentrated consolidation of recruiting talent go to one school in D1 wrestling or even any D1 college?
Obviously Football has Bama, but even they lose out on some 5 star recruit. They don't have their entire lineup comprised of 5 star recruit. I think it's cause of this thing called a scholarship limit. But whatever.

I didn't listen to the podcast, but I did see Sam Stoll absolutely crush Pyles on Twitter. I genuinely laughed out loud.
I'll summarize what they said regarding Iowa:
- Iowa Fans on message boards are melting down, calling for coaching changes, need to step up recruiting, going nuts
- Says Iowa is recruiting just fine and thats nonsense , coaching change is nonsense as well
- Iowa Fans needs to relax
- Returning 3 finalists, who are all likely to to repeat finals appearances next year
- Returning 5 Total AA's as well as Stoll who was a top 6 guy but got hurt and contributed 0 points

Even with all that concentrated talent at PSU, I think Iowa can successfully compete against them if we can get a couple top 5 and a couple 5-10 guys on the team and fill every other spot with a 10-40 kid (no big holes manned by a nonqualifier 70-100 ranked guy please). TnT can coach up at many of those 10-40 guys like Stoll, Gilman, Brooks, Clark, Sorensen, Meyer, Ramos, McD, DSJ, etc. to be high AAs. With the way NCAAs are scored, we need a few of the Metcalfs, Nolfs, Retherfords, Halls, Marinellis, and Lees of the wrestling world to keep pace.
I like that our top 3 ranked recruits are recent recruits. Add in Mejia, Renteria, and hopefully a few others and we are moving in the right direction.
I'm not gonna lie. I was really worried about the future of Iowa wrestling after nationals. I mean, Division I programs are being dropped all over the place and if I've learned anything from this board over the past few days it's that Iowa could/should be on the chopping block. Plow those resources back into women's rowing, I say, and maybe we can start a new dynasty.
But now that the Flo dudes have explained it all to me, I feel so much better. I had no idea that we had a good recruiting class coming in — why doesn't anyone ever mention that on this board? And is it really true that all 3 of our finalists return? Wow, I'd think one of you guys might have pointed that out to save me some worry.

Well I didn't need flo to tell me where the Hawks are going face it they are in business to get hits and customers to make money. The only change I thought maybe would be good was maybe give Metcalf or someone else a job as then with Tom and Metcal calling on recurits have a more favorable approach to the kids of today..No disrespect to M* I just think Tom and Terry are too much alike in the coaching. The poster who said maybe Iowa drop wrestling I'm sure was just being sarsatic.
