In our following the future update, we take a look each week during the season at how Iowa's commits are doing on the field, including our performance of the week. Join us throughout the season as we watch their progress and get ready for the future of Hawkeye football.

Performance of the week

Ever since moving to quarterback in the middle of the season due to an injury to Park Center's starter, Amani Hooker has been putting up ridiculous numbers on offense to go along with his stellar play on defense. This week was no exception as Hooker completed 13 of 17 pass attempts for 335 yards and 5 touchdowns and added a 50-yard rushing touchdown as well in Park Center's 49-21 win over St. Louis Park on Friday. On defense, which is where Hooker will play in college, he 8 tackles and 2 interceptions, one of which he returned 80 yards for a touchdown. Through 6 games, Hooker has 8 interceptions this season.

Other notable performances

Quarterback Nathan Stanley had his biggest game of the season so far as he was 11/19 passing for 204 yards and 5 touchdowns in Menomonie's 34-28 overtime victory against Eau Claire Memorial on Friday. Through 7 games, Stanley has completed 52 of 96 pass attempts for 1,079 yards with 12 touchdowns and 3 interceptions this season.

Running back Toks Akinribade had his second 200-yard game in a row in Brownsburg's 66-41 win over Zionsville on Friday. Akinribade ended up with 32 carries for 243 yards and 2 touchdowns in the game and added a 13-yard receiving touchdown as well. Through 7 games, Akinribade now has 155 carries for 1,032 yards and 13 touchdowns this season.

Kristian Welch continues to produce on both sides of the ball every week for Iola-Scandinavia. On Friday, Welch had 8 carries for 155 yards and 1 touchdown on offense and 6 tackles and a fumble recovery on defense in Iola-Scandinavia's 56-6 win over Wittenberg-Birnamwood.

Tight end Noah Fant had a big game on Friday with 9 catches for 203 yards and 3 touchdowns in Omaha South's 39-22 win over Columbus. Through 6 games, Fant now has 40 catches for 497 yards and 7 touchdowns this season.

Barrington Wade led Niles North in their 62-27 win over Maine West on Friday with 21 carries for 223 yards and 2 touchdowns. Through 6 games, Wade now has 108 carries for 1,046 yards and 8 touchdowns as well as 25 tackles on defense this season.

Running back Toren Young continues to put up big numbers week in and week out. On Friday, Young finished with 35 carries for 237 yards and 2 touchdowns in Monona Grove's 24-21 win over Fort Atkinson. Through 7 games, Young now has 189 carries for 1,386 yards and 14 touchdowns this season.

Despite defenses game planning to stop him, tight end T.J. Hockenson seems to put up big numbers every week and did again on Friday with 16 catches for 167 yards and 2 touchdowns in Chariton's 34-21 loss to Norwalk. Through 6 games, Hockenson has 56 catches for 811 yards and 13 touchdowns this season. With 45 career touchdown catches, his next score will tie the all-time career record in the state of Iowa.

After starting the game at quarterback, Frank Darby moved back to wide receiver in the second quarter and ended up catching 3 passes for 77 yards and 1 touchdown in Lincoln's 18-0 win over Union City on Friday night. Through 4 games, Darby has 9 catches for 225 yards and 3 touchdowns this season.

Offensive lineman Spencer Williams led the way upfront as Cedar Falls racked up over 350 yards on offense in their 34-31 win over Cedar Rapids Jefferson on Friday. Cedar Falls is now 5-1 on the season.

Cole Banwart had 4 tackles and 2 sacks as he helped Algona improve to 5-1 with a 52-14 victory over Perry on Friday. Through 6 games, Banwart has 29 tackles, 7.5 TFL, and 4.5 sacks this season.

After missing three weeks with a leg injury, Cedric Boswell was back in the lineup for Birmingham Groves this weekend and had 7 carries for 68 yards and 2 touchdowns in their 42-0 win over Avondale.

Class of 2017 defensive end commit Coy Kirkpatrick had 8 tackles on Friday night, but saw his Madrid team suffer their first loss of the season in a 31-26 game with Ft. Dodge St. Edmond. Through 6 games, Kirkpatrick has 34 tackles, 4.5 TFL, and 1.5 sacks this season.

Emmanuel Rugamba continues to impress on both sides of the ball this season. On Friday, Rugamba had a big interception on defense and 6 catches for 129 yards and 3 touchdowns on offense as Naperville Central rolled over Batavia by a score of 34-14.

Other notes: Wide receiver Devonte Young had his game postponed to Monday due to weather... Brandon Simon's team had a bye week... On the injury front, Iowa commits Austin Schulte and Romeo McKnight will both miss the rest of the season after undergoing ACL surgery in September.
