I have been a Hawkeye fan since the late 40's and for the first time I am looking forward to the next basketball season more than the next football season. I find it hard to wait for the new recruits to join the present team. I realize that there are the doubters that feel that the incoming three are not that good or over rated etc. but I believe that they are all going to be better than advertised and will help take the basketball program to the next level. Welcome to Iowa and enjoy your college experience. GO HAWKS

Where were you when Fran was first hired or at least spent one year as IA's new coach? I've been excited since then. Had some excitement with Alf, gave first 2 years with Lick, and sorely missed Davis. Lute and Raveling were my early years so the bond wasn't as strong.

Yeah, looking forward to next season too. Should be exciting, especially with JoBo. I'm in that age ballpark too. I remember when Ralph Miller coached us lol.

I would say I agree with that. Though as the last week of August gets here, it will be hard to say what excitement level is more..... basketball or football? Right now I would say basketball, but I know that will and could change. :)

As I hit my mid 40's, I have had a love affair with Hawkeye FB and BB all my life and I think the joy and excitement of each approaching season, is still there for me. I will admit that I don't live and die with every W or L like I did years ago, but I truly love following the teams and staying informed. It's website's like HR, that are so outstanding at allowing me to do this.

I know that I have responsibilities and am not ALL sports ALL the time anymore, but it is such a great escape in a stressful day to check in quick and get my Hawkeye fix and then get back to my day job...

I am digging your enthusiasm, and I am super excited as well.

Quick question though........were you in a coma in '99, '00?

Ive been more excited for basketball since Fran got here which coincided with the year Ferentz took a team full of future nfl players and went 7-5.

Thought you might just be excited because of the Austin Ash bloodline going through Postville and headed to the Hawkeyes!

I love what Fran is doing, building a strong foundation and a lot of great pieces is place. That being said I can't say that I'll ever be more excited for basketball that football. I love football so much more as a sport to play and to watch, and nothing beats an early fall morning around Kinnick with a few beers, great food and good friends. Maybe Alford was right!
