Former CCA/Solon Softball Coach Charged with Sexual Exploitation

there have been some racial issues. There are still small pockets of district that is pretty rural.

The previous superintendent also was not very well liked and I think his feelings were mutual. I think he might have left for Ottumwa, so that should say something
Nice insult of rural areas.

Have you read the comments on the kcrg facebook site? No one agrees with you. No one. Most have said he's been doing this since the EARLY 90's.
That is also a group of people who 'knew' it was going on and didn't take enough action to get it addressed. I would feel a fairly significant amount of guilt and would struggle to look the parents of the girls who were allegedly abused in the eye, since 'I knew' it was going on.
Very few of them mentioned specifics or details instead going with 'vibe' or 'creepy' or everyone knew. I hope that it isn't true and the optics are very bad on this but if people 'knew' they need to do some self reflection as well.
Before the 'the school brushed it under the rug' crowd or 'softball was so important' crowd chimes in ask yourself
........if that was my daughter, could they have kept me quiet......... in my case, very doubtful

So I have known Jim sense I graduated from Clear Creek in 1988. Those "rumors" have been going on way back then. I have heard of plenty of stories about him and his players, but I have no proof that any of it actually happened. Jim has always been a great guy to me, and if it is true then I won't be shocked. I do hope for him and his family that it's not true.

Jim White and I have been very good friends since our junior year at Burlington High School. He is NOT the kind of person that would "groom" a fifteen year old girl. He is a person of high integrity who would not take advantage of a young girl. I have no doubt that when all is said and done he will be exonerated of any charges brought against him. What will be left is the humiliation that he and his family will deal with that will not be washed away with his innocence.
Wish you were right, but what would motivate a 30 year old woman to come foward w/ this now? Also, the gravel road encounter and meeting at his house while wife was in Ft Dodge.....seems like details one wouldn't forget.....if there are any electronic records that go back that far and match those dates, he's got some serious 'splanin to do......

Well shockingly enough the kids with trucks with confederate flags don’t live in Coralville or North Liberty. Crazy huh
Maybe, maybe not, but I don’t spend time there. And didn’t know it was a requirement that racists have confederate flags or that everyone who does have a confederate flag is a racist.

So you think the kids driving around with Confederate flags in Iowa are just really big Dukes of Hazard fans?

But as someone who lives in CCA district, the racial issues are from kids in the western part(more rural) part of district. Never did I say that rural=racist. Just that the many of the racial issues in the district involved kids in the more rural portion of district.

CCA used to be a very rural district. With growth of Tiffin, Coralville and NL, you now take a bunch of rural students and mix them in with a suburban population with more diversity(many families with parents that work at U). Unfortunately it has not always been smooth

No, I don’t automatically label someone a racist for having a confederate flag. I’d rather get to someone first and have them prove they are or aren’t rather than making an assumption.

Here’s your quote, “there have been some racial issues. There are still small pockets of district that is pretty rural.” What exactly does it say if it doesn’t imply that the racist there are rural?

well you clearly a terrific human. I usually only wait a week until I ask the guy with confederate flag in vehicle if he is racist. And we all know you can not learn the soul and spirit of a human in 7 days

but it is precious you take the time to get to know someone. Hell I did not even consider that the person might be Robert E. Lee's great, great , great nephew and he is just proud of his kin

Well, that's where it stems from in our district.

I certainly don't believe everyone from rural areas are racist, nor do I believe there aren't racist individuals in the newer areas of Tiffin or NL, but the racism issues at CCA are from the kids from the small western communities of the district.

In your vetting process of getting to know someone have you met anyone before that proudly waved a confederate flag that isn’t racist?

I don’t have anyone close to me that waves a confederate flag, but I know of some who do and they have yet to do anything to prove they are racist. Again I don’t assume they are just because of a piece of cloth. Yes, it takes a while to get to know people, but unless they remove all doubt my assumption is they are not. Not sure why this is a hard concept for many.

The more you know.

You’re right. They should be labeled “really damn ignorant”. Not racist.

So if they are wearing a white sheet with a pointy top, you can’t assume they are racist. It’s just cloth right

in case you haven’t noticed, the confederate flag is basically just a present day Klan symbol . You would have to be a frigging moron to have a confederate flag hanging from vehicle and not just assume that everyone is thinking you are a racist . Because pretty much everyone I guess besides you, is making that assumption

So you go with “not racist” when flying a confederate flag until proven otherwise?

I don’t know if I’m the one being obtuse.

Gee, I wonder what’s wrong with the world today. This type of thinking, labeling people without getting to know them. Congratulations on your true identity.

I am not judging. Confederate flag today=racist. Notice how everyone seems to understand this but yourself

CCA is NOT a rural district What are you talking about? Its basically part of the Greater Iowa City Community. A suburb.

Tiffin and NL, sure, but Oxford and Amana are hardly suburbs.
What does any of this have to do with the fact there is a coach who is accused of having sex with a minor 15 years ago? 99% of the people commenting here or anywhere else don't seem surprised by this allegation. That in itself says a lot.

We’ll have to agree to disagree. And thank you for proving my point of what’s wrong with the world.

/end of topic for me

I was simply correcting my fellow poster who may not be aware of the district.

I have kids in the district currently and this is the first we've heard anything, but there does seem to be a fair amount of people who are not shocked by these accusations.

Awful situation and I'm hoping to hear more about it soon.

Not until you REALLY get to know them could you make that call.
I'm willing to bet the large majority of you clowns have never seen a Nazi or Confederate flag flying anywhere in person in your lifetime.

I'm sure Therapy Cats are in short supply, do the best you can in the meantime.

What's the next step in this case? Charges were filed, he was arrested, now what? Is it a county case? The county prosecutor has to decide to proceed? Or does it go a different path?

I would guess there are other potential victims. I wonder if this charge will get them to come forward...?
