Former Hawkeye Derrick Willies signs with Cleveland

Good for him.

I wish him well despite my comments on another thread. I'd love to see him make it.

From comments on here over the years I am surprised he is not #1 overall draft pick while breaking every record known to man. However, turns out he is exactly what many of us thought he was- a player who quit in the middle of a college football season....ended up not even playing 2nd 1/2 of the season his senior year due to i am not even sure.....ended up with 36 receptions in pass happy TT career (yank yank). I hope he does well because he made a mistake (or several) as a young man and I do not hold that against him. What I have problem with is the fans who freaked out and wanted him on the team even after his BS actions- the win at all costs crowd needs to just go.

He is a training camp dummy. Each club signs a bunch of receivers so the reps are not as heavy on the top end guys.

He has a lot of raw talent. Wish we were able to keep him because he would have been mighty productive on Iowa standards. Good luck to him in the league.

This makes four Browns in the draft with either discipline issues or crime issues. Nice work Browns.

browns are gonna brown. Only the Browns would spend the first overall pick on a 6ft QB, continue to employ Josh Gordon while also drafting others with character/legal issues. Its the least shocking thing from the draft and UDFA process. I'm so glad none of the draft eligible Hawkeyes were selected by them. At least Kirksey is getting paid.

Of course, who else but "The Browns" . Seriously, the young man is an athlete, so why not take a flyer with an FA shot with him. You have to wonder though with a kid you was at 3 or 4 different schools, was only moderately productive, and had disciplinary or "me first", issues at every stop. No doubt he'll be put in his place by team veterans right from the start, and they'll see if he has acquired some level of maturity.

I think Mayfield is the the best rookie qb by far.
If any of them can turn that team around, it's him.
