Can we petition to have Loyer start at point for the opposing team for the rest of the season? It really helped having quite possibly the worst starting guard in the entire league out there. Even Bohannon was running circles around that guy.

I don't know. Something about playing against slow midgets on the road is appealing.

How did this guy end up with a scholarship at MSU? He looked like a MAC level player to me, even that is a bit of a stretch.

And again, he was a 4* recruit and ranked #65 in the country in his HS class. He had offers from roughly half of the B1G but stayed in stated at MSU.

Were the rankings wrong? Maybe
Did he just not develop as expected? Maybe.

It happens every single year.

There were major questions about him coming out of HS based on size and athleticism, but his fans just said he is so smart and such a good playmaker and such a great shooter, etc. Turns out he is so tiny and unathletic that he simply cannot do much at this level. Whatever skill he has is swallowed up by bigger and quicker opponents.

I think we should be the last bunch to be dissing other programs on unathletic pg's over the years! I am sure Izzo thought he knew what he was doing. Let's celebrate being 2-0 vs. MSU and move on. It's safe to say that Foster Loyer is not Cassius Winston or many of the other MSU PG's, but I am sure Izzo will figure it all out.

Kinda reminded me of lil lick
Exactly what I told my wife.

I also said, that dude looks like what I’d look like out there playing at that age.

Rankings or not, he does not fit the eye test and how anyone thought he would be a big time player is beyond me.

Every time he had the ball I was hoping he’d shoot. It looks terrible.

Wait....what?

That guy was supposedly #65th best player?

How?

I just assumed he was a walkon.

facts! 😂 this must be the pot calling the kettle black thread.. I don’t think, & this is just my opinion, we should go there as a fan base because we can’t pretend like we haven’t seen some recent Iowa back court players get abused by quicker bigger more athletic guards.. & I mean recent like just a couple games ago.. and it’s gonna happen again before the years out.. yep discuss something else! Lol

Re:Conner and JoB-- the negativity about their play on this board boarders on the insane. Their body of work will lead to a fond recalls and lot of praise in the very near future. Shooting skill and very low turnover rates more than overcome defensive shortcomings given Iowa's style of play. If you under appreciate an absence of turnovers, watch an Iowa women's game!

This is a low stoop. Dissing on other team's players that haven't acted like jerks. Not cool.

You are right. He seems like a good kid. Now Davison from Wisconsin on the other hand deserves such treatment. Just read and article where his elbow to the head of a Michigan player fueled them to a comeback win. And we all remember his punch to cmacs jewels. Now this kid get what he deserves

Loyer had a stellar career at Clarkston HS. He played for a HOF coach by the name of Dan Fife!! If you check the MSU coaching staff, you will see there is a Fife coaching there. ;) Relationships mean a lot to Izzo and knowing where a player comes from and who he was coached by is very important to Tom when he is recruiting.

Well you put 2 boys on Iowa's roster, and Coached them. So that begs the question if you have a bug in Fran's ear for one of those sweet Assistant jobs at Iowa! ;) (I'm gonna go out on a limb and suggest the fan base would be on board due to your defensive prowess back in the day! Ha!)

I don't know where Troy Skinner was ranked, but I envision a similar story. Just cause I had him on the brain today...

Yeah, I like the Troy Skinner compare better than the Lil' Lick. Dare I throw out a Jake Christensen compare as well? ;) By all accounts both kids walked on water in H.S., but the game seems a little fast for them at this level. (not their fault at all) It happens like someone said, but for a program like Iowa a miss like that cuts much deeper.

Having said that, is it nice to see some chinks in the armor of the almighty Blue Blood MSU basketball program and should we enjoy the moment?

You bet!:)

Nah...I am good being Dad.
On a side note: Watching the last game when Kris got some time, I noticed he was a lefty. Thought that was kind of odd with Twins, one a righty and one a lefty (probably just me being odd). Aside from their numbers being different, I told "The Boss" that's how we can tell them apart in the future when they're on the court together. Her response - "I wouldn't notice something like that". OK, never mind then. Ha!

Kris and Keegan (as well as myself) are ALL left handed!! I had a two handed shot when I first started playing and my coach moved the ball to my right hand (not knowing). I just went with it because he was my coach. I did the same with Keegan and Kris was stubborn and didn't want to do it. :D They both write, throw and golf left handed. I did it to give them an edge on offense. If they are right handed, most teams will force them left. Just thinking ahead!! LOL

MSU has another 4* PG coming next year in Jaden Akins, who also got an offer from Iowa.

I was just taken aback by Loyer's shooting stats. Seems as though the only thing he excels in is FT shooting.

His dad is a high school coach which helped. He also has a younger brother who is a junior in high school who is 6'-4" who will be a leading candidate for Mr. Basketball in Indiana next year. He is more gifted than MSU's Loyer from what I have seen.

his brother is in Clarkson Michigan and while taller, is a lower rated recruit than his brother was.

No, he has transferred to a high school in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He has verballed to go to Purdue after next year.

His Rivals pages says he had just 4 offers

Purdue
Oakland
DePaul
Michigan State
