Really emotional visit with Fran.
He talked a great deal about Jack Nunge losing his dad and how the team and Jack are dealing with it. Said Jack left right away with his girlfriend to head home. Said his girlfriend was thankfully driving because Jack was pretty broken up about it. He said Jack and his dad had talked on Friday night and had a great visit. He was really excited about Jack and his upcoming season and how he was ready to go.
Fran said the Nunge family is incredible and Jack's dad was an amazing guy.
Fran said he told the team at breakfast. Really impacted Luka, Connor, and Austin Ash. Guys who came into together. Especially hit Ash hard because Austin's dad coached Jack when the Nunge's lived in Iowa City.
Fran talked about they dealt with something like this with Gabe Olaseni and when his dad passed away. Recalled gathering Gabe to talk on a call with his family to tell him the news and how emotional that was for everyone. Fran said he talked to Gabe today and he's going to try and connect Gabe with Jack to help him out.
Fran said they are going to give Jack as much time as he needs. Certainly out this week.
Said said JBo got hit in the eye on Friday. Should be fine. Will be in the lineup. With Jack out, probably in the rotation for sure if Patrick and probably Keegan Murray. Said Ulis and Perkins are ready to go, as is Kris Murray.
Fran asked about the season coming up and if it should be delayed like Rick Pitino has been advocating. He said it should start, but be flexible on the back end of things. Fran also said NC Central and Southern are on their way. NC Central arriving within the hour. They get tested by the rapid test before playing the game. That will be the protocol for all teams this year.
